aquaint yourselves with Bill Hicks. unless you're firmly conservative, in which case you'll probably hate everything that comes out of his mouth.

for those of you unfamiliar with Bill Hicks and his work, he was a stand up comedian in the early/mid nineties who died of cancer in 94 (holy shit, almost 15 years ago). i feel like i'm doing a dis-service by referring to him just as a stand-up comic, his work went beyond that, he questioned a lot of problems in our society that unfortunantly haven't changed (the fact that much of what he says is still relevant is driven even further home by the fact that he was rallying against regan and bush the older). and you can see a lot of his influence in stand up comedy today.

i get a feeling that bill hicks has been making a post-mortem comeback and his work is kind of a hip, indie-cred getting thing to be into, none-the-less, i recommend finding our downloading one of his full stand-up sets or albums. forget the you-tube clips.

for everyone that's already a fan of his stuff: didn't he fucking rock? (and stay tuned for a bill hicks reference design that probably no one will get)
