In the end, their father chose a US50 model Kawai because he enjoyed the resonance of the piano when played by the shop owner. It is an upright grand and that means that we do not have to upgrade it as the children progress in their piano lessons.

Based on its S/N 1279742, I discovered from Kawai that it was manufactured during the period of April 1980 - December 1981.

I discovered that it easier for me to teach my children after sending them to the Sunday Dhamma School at Sungai Long Buddhist Society.

Should they misbehave, I can stop them by saying that it is bad for my karma to shout or beat them. If they do not finish up their food, I would say that it is bad for their karma.

"Karma" is best described as a debt owing or reaction to an action. So, bad actions begets bad karma and good karma creates good reaction.

My children understand that if they harm anyone physically, emotionally, mentally or spiritually, they will be placed in a similar incident where they will be the victim. So, it is a mighty magical word to teach my children with.

Do you see the picture now?

Some animals have to die to feed us. So don't throw away your food. I cannot find a better picture to get my children to clean up their plates.

Thanks, Chow.

Every time you scold the kids for misbehaving, reflect on how they became this way.

Is one always threatening the other to get things done? Recollect how many times you have done that to them.

Do they roll their eyes in disdain and use profanities whenever they have the opportunity to? Reflect on who in your family or circle of friends do that. Remove these influences.

You hear compliments about your children from their friends and teachers but when they are with the family they are rude to one another. Is that how you are treating your spouse? What are you like when you are with your friends?

If your children are always shouting in the house, you have to stop shouting at them. Admit that it is your mistake to shout or continue living in the state of self destruction.

I can't find a better picture to convey this message for my children:

How sweet! My children want to know what I do at home when they are not around. This is what I do, kids.

I try to be a maid-less-ly happy mother. Being maid-less in a double storey house and a madness for neatness, I try to find short cuts to household chores so that I have time to do the things I love to do.

Things I love to do can be anything from watching my favourite TV programmes while I clean or cook during commercials breaks to listening to the radio while I iron. I like to write on my blogs while I think about up-keeping the wellbeing of the family.

I keep myself busy learning new things and working on my hobbies so that when your father comes home, I will not be asking him to take me out because I am bored, cooped up all day at home. I like the idea that when you are back from school, I am naturally cheerful.

So, what I actually do at home is being happy within and without.
Be good, children. Help me stay this way.

"What do you call a person who writes rows and rows of words, Mummy?" Hmmm, who could my little boy be referring to? "Are you talking about a poet?", I wondered.

My son ran off happily with my answer and left me thinking of a question that I would like to know the answer myself; that is, what do I call a person who writes or uses angry words. Here is my reflection.

While poets writes beautiful words to inspire
In moments of anger people instigate
Fights can erupt
Crimes are committed

While a string of beautiful words are poetry
A string of angry words is a S W O R D
Like a thrusting piece of metal
The words can cut and hurt as deeply

Cuts from a glistening sword
Can heal with care
A scar stays to remind
the depth...the pain

Can an expression of remorse
heal wounds that fester in the heart?
You will soon know
In the next moment of anger

I am not going to guess and get my answers wrong where emotions are concerned. I have created a little prop for my children to play with to remind them to handle their words with care.

You can view the pictures with a link to instruction on how to create your own at the following link:

See "Words Can Kill"

Following are slogans I have created to reflect this though:

S W O R D" in hurtful "W O R D S
Backstabbed with S W O R D in W O R D S
S W O R D in angry words

Would you vote to wear it?

Everybody wants a place in the sun and some would consider moving to a foreign country to realize this dream. If we do not take care of our environment now, there will come a time when a move to a warmer country is no longer necessary.

This slogan I created says it all.

"A place in the sun for you. Coming soon with global warming."

Who do you think is the cause of global warming? Would you wear this warning?
