Was wondering if you can give me a hand with something for a quick second.

I'm writing a module for a friend that's set in a Europe analogue.

The area in question is mountainous and fairly elevated (think year round snows on peaks and such) with pine trees in the valleys below the snow line and I kind of imagine it being a bit like Switzerland (although I'm not sure why given that I've never been to Switzerland).

I was wondering if you can tell me what kind of animals were traditionally domesticated for food and what kind of crops were traditionally grown in Switzerland.

I'm kind of imagining rabbits, goats, maybe deer or reindeer or something.

Care to help a clueless hot climate living boy out?

I've arrived in Canberra; our nation's capital. It's a city near where I grew up and the place that my parents now call home.

I spent about ten years living in Canberra after I moved out of home while I finished high school and college, spent some time at various Unis and generally wasted a big block of my teens and early twenties.

I moved away from here and I've always kind of felt that Canberra was in some kind of status bubble.

You can be away for six months or a year and when you return everything is basically where you left it.

I mean - the politicians change and the occasional department gets renamed but it seems that it's only the superficial stuff that alters at all.

Today I had this confirmed to me.

I'm blogging from my parents computer which has a dial up modem and the blistering connection speed 28.8K.

For those of you who aren't aware I'm currently on a trek up the east coast aiming to catch up with my fam (most of whom I haven't seen since last Christmas).

Saturday morning I spent three hours on the road before arriving in Albury (where my middle sister is going to Uni).

I've never really spent much time here before - until now I'd kind of considered Albury to be one of those places that you stopped to use toilets and grab food on the seven and a half hour drive between Canberra and Melbourne.

Having spent a weekend here hanging out with Al and her Uni friends I've decided that while many of the people are friendly it's probably best driven through at high speed.

I mean; the weather is lovely and as inland Australian towns go it's pretty green but in forty eight hours I've gotten the distinct vibe that I'm definitely a different breed of guy from the locals.

No one has come up to me with a "you're not from around here are you boy" but I get the feeling that it's only a matter of time.

I bought a couple of wifebeaters (aka coloured singlets) at the shops here the other day.

I'm thinking of them as a kind of adaptive camoflage.

Maybe if I could bring myself to stroll down the main street wearing them then the locals would not realise that I am not one of them,

I'm not joking either, I saw a guy out at a club saturday night (Albury has two clubs) wearing a black cowboy hat, green singlet, camo cargo shorts and black thongs. He looked like he'd just stepped off the set of a four corners special about twentieth century droving.

The bouncers didn't even say a word to him.

I'll upload some photos to my flickr when I get somewhere with a card reader but until then take care and I hope to see you all again soon.

How are you all?

AKA sometimes the female psyche just confuses the shit out of me

AKA I may regret writing this blog tomorrow

So we got our yearly bonuses at work today and one of my work girlfriends is using her money to take a well deserved break to Europe.

As a result I went out to a pub tonight with some work people for a few drinks to say farewell.

We went through a few jugs of beer and had a meal and settled in for some Thursday night pub poker and I got hit on by a girl.

Weird, I know.

What weirded me out though was not so much being hit on as her approach; she started out by basically stating that everything that I do at work is trivial and will make no difference in the world (fair enough I guess) and then proceeded to grind all over me like a scratching pole.

Does this seem unusual to anyone else?

As I sit here re-hydrating before I head to bed I can't help but feel that it's kind of a counter productive approach.

Someone care to shed a little light on it for me?

Seems like demeaning someone and then objectifying them might not be the best way to get them home.

(oh, I sucked at poker BTW. Got two good hands early on and then proceeded to get kicked around the table all night.)

I've been having a little difficulty getting to sleep of late; I've got a few million things going on and none of them are resolving neatly.

As a result I'm up till pretty late each night trying to figure out ways to build a sky ship and become the terror of the airways with a crew of hardy (yet kind hearted) sky pirates.

My brain pretty much wins at escapism when I'm under stress.

Add to this the fact that daylight savings started this week and I'm waking up an hour earlier and you get an extremely sleep deprived boy.

I'm kind of short tempered at the moment.

I just caught myself considering stabbing a workmate with a pen.

Not seriously, but the thought did flicker into my frontal lobe before I remembered that I'm not a psycho.

And that I kind of hate blood.

Sorry if I've been short with or mean to anyone on here this week.

I promise to get more sleep next week.

There were a whole bunch of new skaters but they all skated really well and there was some amazing stuff on both sides.

It was a tight game but my team ended up in front which was wicked.

And three of the skaters said they wanted one.
Good luck with turning them into a client Leon.

As of yesterday's update threadless seems to delete any style tags from profile boxes on save.
