Does anyone else feel like lately they have to vote lower than they might otherwise? The recent winners just aren't as good as past ones were in my opinion. In addition, the first three shirts of my club 12 subscription I sold because I couldn't imagine wearing them myself.

I have found myself zero-ing stuff that might deserve a 2 or 3 because I'm afraid it will get printed. (To me, I should give 5 to ones I think should be printed, zero to ones I find really stupid or offensive, and 2-4 to ones that have merit, but need work. I give $ only if I really think I would buy it.)

I know my single vote won't cause a sub to be printed or dropped early, but that's all I've got to control what I'll get in my club 12. (I haven't broken down and made myself multiple accounts as I know some have.)

Just wanted to see what other people think.

So we made a cake for the contest.
This is the beginning: white cake with blue food coloring.

I had to build the back wall. (notice the sunburn on my face and arms!)

think wall and block of ice

Roundredhead helped by cutting out the snowflake

some extra pieces. they didn't last long...

the carving is finished!

it had to be blueberry jam for the filling

getting the frosting between the crystals was not easy.

now for the figures (with some extra sustenance)

transforming the OR crew into a snowflake crew

Notice the guy on the right can't hold up the frosted paper. I had to rest the paper on the chair back.

Finished!

Oh no! the wall flakes are drooping!

grand finale!

I agree with other cake people in that I'm too tired to eat it now!

I have been trying to make an effort to rate slogan submissions, and I have become rather frustrated. It has taken me hours (while doing something else, I admit) to try to get through the list, with only a very few original or interesting ideas.

I think we might be able to see (and therefore vote for) the good ideas if there weren't so many garbage submissions. Could you possibly add a few suggestions to the slogan submitting page?

A few ideas:

1) Anything you've already seen on a T-shirt or bumper sticker is not a new idea.
2) Check your submission for spelling and grammar mistakes. (Your/you're and there/their/they're are common problems.) Then we can tell if the "mistake" is part of your idea.
3) Read and score a few submissions before entering. You'll soon see what kind of stuff is already there. Try to be different.
4) Look at the slogans that have been printed on shirts to get an idea of what works on a shirt. Your slogan may be brilliant, but does it make sense as a shirt design?
5) Then be creative, write something concise, witty, and original.

I don't want to censor anything. The voters will speak to that. I just want people to be more careful before they submit so that it is possible for each idea to get more than 50 votes.

Thanks
