So it was Iowa. It was there.
And he was there, as was I. It was in Des Moines. It was the Botanitcal Center. You know we were there because Catharsis was in town. The singer screamed barefooted in mesh shorts, or were they cargo? Long hair and he looked everyone there in the eye. He would just go right up to you in the crowd screaming and staring at you. He didn't blink much.
After the show I took off my purple shirt for them to silkscreen the word Catharsis on the front. They carried around their silkscreen and ink and were printing shirts people wore in to the show.
Yesterday night I was skating at the G-view park. Great weather, lots of kids. There was a kid with super tight jeans and you know the emo hair and a studded belt and a shirt. At first I thought it said Catharsis on it. But later I found out it said Catherine. Yeah so im listening to Catherine right now.
he said he was from Colorado.
he said he was moving to California soon.

yeah sorry folks...
i looked through um and thats what it is
two things for future designs..

(1) SHOW dont tell
good design speaks for itself it just is... all the necessary elements are there, nothing else.

(2) Cautiously use circles and ovals
it's difficult to make good designs with the outline of a circle/oval (ellipse if you want) ... i dont know about you, but those "logo" designs with a brand name inside a horizontal ellipse are pain-full.. and they are so prevelant.. i thought it died in the 90s...
but yeah just be really careful when you are using these shapes... there really needs to be a justifyable reason or 3 to make it work... furthermore.. dont use these shapes to establish the background behind a graphic, again unless you have really good reasoning.

(3) FORM follows FUNCTION
you need to have an idea of what you are trying to do with your design before you start creating it. Do a few sketches. play with the idea and keep making it stronger and stronger... show it to people and get responses. Listen to critique, defend yourself if necessary, but be open to new views. When the function of your design is expressed through the form, it will SHOW.

(4) Mythology
Develop your own personal history/mythology. Get to know your true self better. BE YOU. Be honest with yourself first. Pursue what excites you. Get to know the world around you. Respond to the real. Its always surreal.
