It's one of those 'mystery auctions' where they give out 1000 envelopes with various amounts of money in them.

He says the amounts are:

2- Contains $500
8- Contain $100
20- Contain $25
70- Contain $10
200- Contain $5
250- Contain $1
450- Contain .01-.50$

That's 1000 envelopes. There are 994 left, which means six have been sold. Now suppose those 6 were the two $500 and 4 $100.
That still leaves all the others. If you add up the ones left, you get a total of over $1400.
So what if someone bought the last 994 for $994. Wouldn't that mean they would get $1400+ back? Am I missing something, or is this guy gonna loose money? Unless he's lying.]]> Sat, 27 Jan 2007 22:25:44 -0600
