well about a month and a half ago i got a stupid ticket for making a right turn at one of those lights where you can turn there like 80% of the time except during certain hours of certain days. I had thought it was Saturday so well I turned and a jerk ass cop gave me a ticket without even telling me what it was for. I even had one of those solid metal cards that says I'm a family member to a chief of police and the cop wouldn't even look at it. That sort of offense really should be a warning not a ticket... the cop even complimented me on how cautious I was driving by signalling and looking both ways etc. but he still ticketed me.. the jerk..

So after being pissed off for like a week I made a court date hoping to explain myself and have the judge take pity on me. It's really really hard to keep track of what day it is when you've been unemployed for 7 months. So I went in and they apparently do court dates assembly line style here in CA so I was in the room with like 50 other people and wasn't even given a chance to even explain myself.

In the end I have a choice now of paying the $160 ticket plus $40 for the court to let me go to traffic school plus the $40 that the school charges. OR I can pay the $40 to the court the $40 in school charges and $25 to the local volunteer center and waste 20 hrs of my time doing stupid community service doing god only knows what.

grrr.. so since I don't have the $265.... I'm going to be out $105 and do the service and hope it's nothing terrible. And after turning my vespa on the side 2 weeks ago and sliding down the pavement my knee isn't 100% anyways so I can't stand for extended periods of time... maybe I'll end up with a desk job. But I've got to drag myself down to the volunteer center and find out what the stupid service is.

Has anyone else had to do required community service before? Is it terrible? I'm afraid it will be something humiliating and public like trash pick up or something equally disgusting and awful

*Update*
Well I went to a pretty well known handmade store here in LA yesterday.. Handmade Galleries LA and the owner loved my bags and would like to offer me space to rent for 6 months which would hit all the holiday shoppers. I'm really excited and will be accepting the offer and renting out a small space. The prices in the store will have to be raised a bit to cover my rent there and the % that the store takes of selling price. But I'm still excited to be able to say that I'll be in a well known store in a high traffic shopping area. :) While in the store I'll be making a smallish poster with the the print of every pocket designer and the name and website of each artist printed.

Alright, I was on the fence about posting this while it is in Etsy store phase (my web building friend is taking forever and a day to get the freestanding site up) but well I'd love to be able to maybe make a few sales so I can afford to order more materials.

lol it's hard starting a business when unemployed and with little start up capitol... but thankfully so many great artists were willing to help support this start up phase by contributing designs.

So thanks so much to d3d, Mezo, Wotto, Wullagaru, Steven218, Travis76, and last but not least Isaboa for contributing designs and working with me on the early color restrictions.

So here it is...

But everything is handmade, and the screen printing was done by a very good company who I think did an amazing job.

Ok well I'm totally depressed.. I had like my first job interview in months and I'm sure I didn't get it. Anyways there was alot of miscommunication of information that was given to me and they're blaming me for it even though I followed the directions I was given. I'm just so upset. lol.. I tried icecream but I don't feel better.. and I have no beer in the apartment... so what do you do to feel better? Usually my cat is very cuddly and makes me happy but he's sleeping in the clothes hamper and not available for cuddling since he seems so happy in there. Anyways I'll probably delete this in a bit since the whole mess is embarassing.

UPDATE July 30th

Adding Link of Tees that I have not reconstructed yet. I will be getting to them in due time though so if you want to request one custom made for you please do so quickly before I cut it up and reconstruct it however I want to. :P

Customs will be in the same price range as the others $40-50 depending on how much work and how much extra fabric I need and if I need to buy extras like buttons or ribbons etc.

Available Tee Flickr Set

UPDATE July 29th

Added Electro Love Boat Select. I really like the way this one turned out with the wide ties at the shoulders. The ties can be just knotted or tied into a bow like shown as they're not fixed. $40

Sorry for the crappy picture but this is what happens when I let the boyfriend take the pictures.. lol he didn't even wait for me to pose or smile. hehe I'm just lucky my eyes are open :P

UPDATE July 26th

Just added Rollin' Hatin Select Reconstruction. This one was crazy tough since the whole back was damaged with a black grease. I reconstructed it as a deep scoop back halter top. There is a medium purple tie around the neck and a dark purple band from front to back that keeps the girls from falling out the sides ;) it can also be used to hide a bra band. I did one version of this and it didn't work so I had to pullt he whole thing apart and start again. $45

Pictures below.. I apologize for my icky sunburn lines :P

UPDATE July 23rd

Symbol or Signifier Select reconstruction. Cut off the top of the tee and added a deep purple tank style top. Added a patchwork overlay of pieces of top of the shirt that was cut off. Edges were bound with an extra strip of the purple fabric and secured with a zig-zag stitch. The design is a little off kilter and not 100% centered and the hem has a teeny irregularity where the front was only a quarter of an inch longer in the front.. I liked it so when I put the front and back together I left the irregularity in the hem. Going to have to say $45 for this one because of all the extra labor that went into it.

UPDATE July 9th
I Got Another Whale is finished and available. I cut the design out and carefully placed it ontop of a made from scratch Heather Grey tee that I made. The tee has a wide slightly scooped ballet neck. The overlay is held on with a grey zig-zag stitch along the edge done twice with a single straight black stitch along the edges of the cat and the whale where is is very unobtrusive to the design.. as you can see in the picture the stitch is hardly visable but it add extra durability and strength to the design patch. $40

UPDATE July 5th
Attack of Literacy is now available! This fits much closer to a girly medium than a girly large tee (as you can see it's a bit tight on me) but it came out super cute. The straps were a pain to figure out so I have to charge a little more for this one. To be sold to Ladykat. :)

Round Two:
Not too many this time... only two so far.. I'm working on Attack of Literacy right now but it's not going to be done till probably tomorrow.

ps sorry for the crappy photos.. I had to take them myself and I accidentally had the camera on the wrong setting so the pics look kinda grainy. :/ but it's enough to get the idea across for the moment. I'll get better pics as soon as I can bribe the boyfriend to take them.

Patchwork reconstructed as a tunic / dress. It is actually long enough to be worn as a dress :) I just hate my legs so I'm wearing it as a tunic with jeans. True size large fit, although this can be easily reduced down to a medium if the buyer wants. $40

Ci'trust me its Moving reconstructed as a cutie cross-back tank top. This one runs small much closer to a medium than a large as you can see it's really snug on me. $40

Ok well this is my first batch of reconstructions :) All shirts are about the equivalent of a girly large tee.

i'm kinda thinking of maybe dying my hair. lol :) i just can't decide if i want to go red or black. right now its kinda brown with these lighter colored blondish brown streaks. hehe when the cherry red streaks washed out i was left with these weird bleached hair clumps. but i've never done black before and am tempted to try it but am afraid to because it's almost impossible to color over black if i hate it.
