Apparently, 'public opinion weighs on the judges' decision', plus, if I get lots of friend-based votes, I can also win $500 in cash, which is precisely how much the lens I broke will cost to replace (...I dropped my camera at work the other day. DISASTER. My main lens is FUBAR, and I have no. money. fuck.)

So my computer appears to have got hot and heavy with a virus - it was being all pop-up-y, and all 'I'm going to run like a bitch-y', so I ran a few virus scans, including 'Avast', which according to the internetz0rz, is good.

Now when I turn it on, it comes up with a rundll error box, saying it couldn't initialize some program, and now I have nothing on my desktop and no Start Menu. Curiously, I appear to be able to run programs via the Task Manager 'New Task' button, but I kind of need My Docs, Computer, etc.

And then, yesterday, I had to edit a poster at uni, on a desktop Mac. And a friend who is familiar with Apple came with me. I was doing my usual 'Grr, I don't understand the layout of this computer' thing.

And then.

He showed me.

The button that makes all the windows go all little, so you can select which one you want to have up.

And with that, a press of F3, I was sold.

And then I got all excited about the Dashboard button, and the button that brings up the programs you've got open. I had to download a font to use on the poster, and I was getting worried about how to install it, but then it just appeared with a button saying 'Install this font.' No Control Panel! Gadzooks!

And now I'm eyeing my HP Pavilion (a source of woe if ever there was one, it's currently out of service because the charger broke (or the port, I'm not sure), and you can't get parts for it in Australia) with suspicion and dreaming Macbook-y dreams.

I've got a USB memory card reader which I attach to my handy dandy laptop and get stuff from my camera.

Yesterday, all of a sudden, My Computer stopped showing the drive (or any other USB item put into any of the USB ports). I could still open items from Photoshop - it showed up when I went to My Computer then.

Today, it's not showing up anywhere. This saddens me. Halp!]]> Wed, 19 Mar 2008 04:24:16 -0500 Sun, 16 Mar 2008 01:00:01 -0500 vegan foodz, and now I'm all, d00d, I am unhealth.

When I'm trying to be healthy, my diet is something along the lines of:

Breakfast: Muesli with a banana and milk.
Lunch: A salad containing lettuce, tomatoes, carrots and anything else vegetable-y in the house. I then get super hungry because vegetables are not filling and generally eat some form of:
Afternoon snack: Smoothie with banana, honey, ice, skim milk.
Dinner: Whatever my mother has prepared, which varies considerably. Her specialties, however, are various stir fries and pastas.

When I am not being healthy I buy things at uni during the day at whim, ranging from rice+some form of stir fry, sandwiches (always overpriced), stuff from the on-campus vegan restaurant (usually rice and a curry). I also have a tendency to get involved with skim frappucinos (because hey, if you get skim milk and no cream, it stops all the sugar from killing you, right?) from the coffee places on campus, and muffins. Oh, muffins.

I always drink at least four cups of strong white tea each day, or I end up killing people. I also dabble in soy lattes with fake sugar if need be.

Re: exercise, I either go to the gym a few times a week and spend about an hour and a half on the X trainer and treadmill, or I go 'Fuck that shit, I'm too busy' and don't exercise.

So, like, make me healthy. Give me awesome healthy food ideas, and force me to exercise. I like plans that I can cross off.]]> Thu, 13 Mar 2008 08:24:40 -0500

Fleur, a friend from uni (I've posted several photos of her previously), decided to do a shoot based on some rare Pulp songs. We got two actors, Nick and Kiloran, stuck them in costume, played them the song on repeat and then got them to improvise a scene based on the song. It was the coolest way to do a shoot, ever. Like being in a tiny theatre.

Fleur was there taking the proper photos, I just hung around trying to figure out how to use her 80-200mm lens on manual focus.

First song was 'P.T.A' - about a teacher who wants to sleep with his student. Directions to actors: 'Nick, you're at home, when Kiloran suddenly turns up in your bedroom.'

It got creepy.

And then on to the next song - 'You're Not Blind', about a guy who knows his wife is cheating on him. Cue Kiloran getting ready to go out, and Nick sitting on the bathroom floor bein' all despairing. My favourite moment was when Kiloran came over and asked 'So, how do I look?' and Nick just sighed, and said softly '...Beautiful.' So cliched, so adorable.

















The last song was one about a guy whose girlfriend has just broken up with him, and for the life of me I can't remember what it was called.
