I just got this one in the mail. Photographs cannot adequately convey just how amazing it is. It practically burst out of the package and assailed me with its awesomeness. The print is gigantic on the tee such that combined with the print on the back it nearly wraps around on one side. The colours are simultaneously wickedly obnoxious and vibrantly gorgeous. The imagery is alarming and beautiful and intriguing and scary and kinda funny ("ha ha" and "odd"). I cannot wait to wear it around town.

Thanks to Mike Bertino for creating this and thanks Threadless for being so unapologetically ballsy with the Select line!!

Please, Threadless, give Fat Pigeon his first print, starting with this oldest one that is the melancholy of the end of summer at the cottage distilled into a tee (which is why it would be great for Labor Day):

And print some other Fat Pigeon designs in the meantime so that we may soon get a Select.

Anyone else notice the lull? It seems like there are fewer seriously bad designs and fewer subs over all. It's kinda nice to not be scoring some guy in a diving suit or a boom box every other sub too.

Yeah, I know the Pharmacists Loves subs are beginning to trickle in, but there are only a few so far and the theme is open enough that there's no recurring brand cliché.

Loves comps inspired by music and musicians might be the best kind.

A case for good thumbnails (not a manicure blog)

http://www.threadless.com/profile/118025/maija/210544/A_case_for_good_thumbnails_not_a_manicure_blog

For a few months now I have been scoring designs from the thumbnails page via Quick Score and not the page-to-page system because I don't have time to score every design. I skim over the thumbnails and only click on the ones that look like they might lead to something good. I miss good designs because the submitter used a photo in their thumbnail or something totally unrelated to the design, or because they thumbnailed a part of the design that is uninteresting. It's an important part of the submission that some people don't give as much consideration as they should.

So: find a interesting part of the design at a size that isn't going to lose too much when shrunk down. Don't be annoyingly obtuse and frame some little dot or squiggle that does no justice to the design. Definitely don't make some blinking, annoying animated thing. The thumbnail should be a tasty eyeful of the design to follow, not a mere crumb.

Incidentally, Quick Score is kerblooey at the moment. :/
