As I prepare to look for a new job I've put together a website containg some recent work examples. Please take a look and I'd love some feedback from the threadless community, good, bad or ugly. Thanks!

the portfolio itself looks pretty good. You might want to add an option to view a larger version of some of the more detailed designs, though. If someone's computer is on a higher res, like 1200x1600, they might have problems seeing all the detail.

I like it... it's clean and to the point.

You might try adding a little room between the examples and the description text... it feels a little cramped. Although it would mess up your bottom alignment. Maybe try making the Examples grid 4 wide by 3 tall, you're well within the 800 x 600 screen size so you have some horizontal room to work with.

And maybe have the description text flash out for a second. It wasn't immediately clear that the description text was changing as I clicked through the examples.

Other than that I think it's great. Really nice work in there too.

I taught portfolio and presentation at BGSU - as well as I have been in the position of hiring someone quite a few times. So, take this as some encouragement and feedback from someone who (thinks he) knows what he's talking about.

1) A web portfolio is primo and definitely the way to go.
2) Your presentation is spotless with exception to the above minor tweeks mentioned by your other posters
3) DIVERSIFY! THis would be my only pitfall on your stuff.
----- It is obvious you know what you're doing by your work, however, you might want to show different avenues of work other than all Catwalk and LittleTikes type stuff. I know - 'I don't have any' - might be what you're saying. Try and put self-promotion stuff up there, or Threadless Tees on there or the invite you did for your sister's wedding, etc. This will help break up your work and make it look like you have mutliple experiences. Maybe you don't, but you can make it look like it.

Then, take what you done and create a PDF portfolio as well. Send it as part of a self-promo when potential employers ask - they will.

The only other thing you can do is make the site a self-promo on its own instead of a portfolio site. This will add another 'piece' you can show off.

So much to say and I don't feel I've covered anything. Hope this helps a little.

Thank you for your feedback....

margolove: that's a great idea, there are some samples that need to be seen bigger like the last example, the concert poster. If you want to see it bigger in the meantime go to: http://www.jameskurtz.com/chicago.jpg.

Rock Deputy: Yeah that bothers me about the descripion type too. Part of the problem is that the example loads as an external movie and the description is in the main flash file. Maybe I could make them fade in and out or something like you said.

bonedaddy: Thanks for your advice and kind words. Your exactly right when you thought I'd be saying 'but I don't have any.' The lack of variety, I realize, is quite a weak point in my portfolio. I thought about adding pieces from college but decided to stay away from academic work as I want to present myself as a professional and not a recent graduate. That bieng said though I will rack my brain for things I may be forgetting or possibly create some new work.

Again, thanks to everyone for your comments. Viva La Threadless!!

ur font isnt anti aliased in the descriptions might want to find a pixel font good ones here http://www.fontsforflash.com

personally i think its too plain i dont know if anyones comments says the same but for a portfolio it could be alot more interesting, well i shouldnt comment because i cant seem to get my portfolio off the ground.
keep at it

deseptic: I understand your point about the font. However anti-aliasing is technically 'on.' The reason I chose this typeface (akzidenz grotesk) is because it's on all of my business correspondence.

The idea behind it bieng 'plain' is so the examples become the most important. I don't want to distract the user from the main content, instead I want a subtle frame.

Not trying to be defensive... thanks for the thoughts.
