color schemes or styles you like perchance?

I happen to me majoring in interior design...hah

and I was jsut about to post that, actually.

I wish I had a place to put on of those

decorate it like mine.

A friend showed me this a few days ago. Pretty much it's just a site with pictures bookmarked by people, but you're sure to find something interesting that may give you an idea. Hope it helps.

If you're looking for massive, unfocused doses of whatever a bunch of random people are doing....you could try trolling through all of Flickr, searching on generic tags like "apartment", etc.

I think color schemes are my best bet for now. As much as I want to buy something from whatisblik.com, I'm pretty sure the walls aren't flat...

good color schemes are picking two colors that are either near eachother on the color wheel, or exact opposites.



take for instance, blue and orange. They are opposites. you can do any variant of blue and orange, like say a dusty blue-grey and a brightly saturated orange for a pop. Or, both colors can be saturated. whatever kind of look you want.

There are some randomly good ideas here.

a habit I like is to name your apartment (or if it is spacious, name each room) and then decorate accordingly.

So we named one of our rooms the theater, and we deocrated accordingly, red walls, old film reels, movie posters, popcorn tubs etc.

So you could name your apartment something like the treehouse, and go with greens and browns, crates and plants, or like the zoo and go with exotic plants, statues of animals, fountains etc.

Check out some of the products on this site. Alot of it is really expensive, but it's at least good for some inspiration.

check out some of the discovery home shows like Trading Spaces, or flip that house, etc... there are some cool color ideas on the shoes usually.

I've seen some pretty nice ones on etsy.com. Not quite as nice as blik...but still nice :D

Dang, Hannah Montana fatheads? I think I found the perfect wall decorations...

check out RealSimple (the magazine or their website). it might seem kinda hokey, but they have some good decorating/space saving ideas. also domino and Martha Stewart Living (she does have some good ideas, even though everyone hates her)

Hammocks. Makes eating off your lap tricky though.
