I need your help 'o' creative folk of the Thread that is less. I'm currenlty designing a children's character but can't come up with a cute/cleaver name. The character is;

- A ginger cat
- Female
- Intelligent
- A keen observer of the world
- A writer
- A tad sassy
- Knows she's the shit

Any ideas?

I always prefer to give animals unlikely human names like Hugo, Igor or Victor.

A sketch might help to give a bit more of an impression of the character.

I have a soft spot for Rosetta as a name, or something like Mia, which sounds sort of like a cattish noise.

Also, I highly agree with pseduonymjones's Schroedinger suggestion.

Is Shroedinger a refernece to something?

My cats names are Vadar and Numchuk. But both of which did not suit this character in this case :(

It is a reference to Schrodinger's Cat, which is one of the most celebrated scientific paradoxes. See:

"A cat is placed in a box, together with a radioactive atom. If the atom decays, and the geiger-counter detects an alpha particle, the hammer hits a flask of prussic acid (HCN), killing the cat. The paradox lies in the clever coupling of quantum and classical domains. Before the observer opens the box, the cat's fate is tied to the wave function of the atom, which is itself in a superposition of decayed and undecayed states. Thus, said Schroedinger, the cat must itself be in a superposition of dead and alive states before the observer opens the box, 'observes' the cat, and 'collapses' it's wave function."

Also, upon further review, I believe there is a cat in Checkerboard Nightmare named Schroedinger, in reference to the paradox. So, it's creatively taken.

It was more of a boy cat's name anyhow.

I don't want to name the cat after a hypothetical feline that 'could' exsist in a undead state. Eww.

It's not an experiment, it's a paradox! You're not supposed to actually DO it.

It's just a thing quantum physicists like to think about on weekends while they're sitting around, smoking pot. (That's what they do, right?)

I've got 2 cats, mother & daughter, the little one's a black & white called Maisy, & the mother is a tortoise shell & white, & she's called Marmalade, that's a great name to use. Bless them, they've both gone to the vets for micro-chipping today, & Maisy's getting the snip as well, sniff, sniff.
