Okay.....so I need a decent camera....thinking digital slr, but can't afford a whizz bang one.
Need it for taking pics of artworks and......here's the prob......sports shots. By sports.....I mean speed skating...my kid does it ( and according to them I will be too apparently, my smoking habit begs to differ), and the club has nominated me team snapjockey! This is what I got with my point and click on 'sports' mode here and it just doesn't cut it.
at the 3rd year show.... haven't picked up the stuff from the 4th yrs yet as their show is still running.
I know these are crappy pics....but the work is great! Pylons archival digital print Melia carved these apples on the tree....her final installation was awesome! ![]() No Time to Lose 3d archival digital print.....came with 3d glasses, wish I could have afforded to buy a set of these, they are fantastic...and the B grade film still like plot Erin created with her alter-ego 'Hell-May' is saucy and brilliant, the 3d effect is very cool! ![]() Day & Night (title is in latin) Love Thomas' painted furniture, wish I had a big enough house to do one of his large dressers justice. The detail is amazing! All have a 360' view, even the inside of drawers were painted on his othe stuff. ![]() ![]()
So I have 2 weeks off starting Monday and I thought I would try another design.... but my head is full to the top with the screenprints I have been working on and I have a threadless block!

Okay these are far from the finished product....just thought I would post some progress pics to let you know where I'm going with this idea....
I am working towards an exhibition in November, playing with ideas of the portrait, identity, the internet etc.... Excuse the pic quality, trying to shoot white on white with a cheap point and shoot camera has its issues. Thanks Tiffa34 for the pic ![]() netting layers: 75% aqua transparency, 25% aqua pearlescent white face layer: aqua opaque white.....screenprint on acetate ![]() ![]() plastic pallette wrapping netting, opaque white screenprint on acetate ![]() ![]() obviouslly just experimental stuff, plan on working on large sheets of perspex and layering heaps more elements....denser areas, fracturing facial features onto diff layers. Also going to play with coloured perspex (Sparky your pic is begging to be used for this!) May use spotlights too (coloured and clear) as the shadows can be awesome for these. If you are willing to let me use your face please send a photographic self portrait to: kimhurst@slingshot.co.nz KDIDJ
Just because it seems we need our own blog!
Pity we can't do this round a table with wine and cheese. |
I haven't submitted any photos. I guess I don't want free money.
