i was gonna say elliot smith, how aboutt NEUTRAL MILK HOTEL?! thats waht im digging now.

Also What about heatmiesr, elliot smith's band before he went solo, the songs off of "mic city sons" are really amazing sounds like

figure 8.

oh and if you like shins, did you ever hear "fruit bats" also off of sub pop, and um er.. oooo also if you like iron and wine why not try a bit of Sufjan Stevens!

damn you have a very similar music taste as me so i wanna suggest a lot.. but im trying to think..

OH YES ben folds- or ben folds five

and sondre lerche, or kings of convience!

i hope you agree, it always nice to run into a fellow elliot smith fan.

maybe these are decent suggestoins? i hope..

Can't beat any modest mouse. But maybe not if you don't want anymore "downish" stuff.

Nuetral Milk Hotel is good also, the music is a little more upbeat.

I second Will Oldham, he goes by various monikers: Bonnie Prince Billy, Palace Music, etc. My favourite albums are I See A Darkness and Viva Last Blues.

Also, in Lena's blog I mentioned Bound Stems and Devin Davis, there both really good. Also, Mirah (C'Mon Miracle is my favourite album, Cold Cold Water is my favourite song) and the Microphones (It Was Hot We Stayed In The Water and The Glow, Pt. 2 are both amazing albums, I Want Wind To Blow is my favourite song), are both amazing.

^fuck, that's they're not there. I hate when people do that. And I also second Neutral Milk Hotel. I didn't mention them because I generally just assume everyone has heard of them before and knows of their awesomeness. If you haven't heard them get on it.
meloncauliflowr
meloncauliflowr on Dec 04 '05 at 9:17pm
haha. the decemberists are already there. okay, i have lots of old modest mouse, and i love it. i have every neutral milk hotel song ever recorded, no exagreattion. plus all of the postal service and all of alltimequarterback, both ben's bands. i like the efforts, though. :]

DEAR IMPOSSIBLEJOSH. im really excited about the elliotsmith band thing, i never even thought back that far. <3 and also, i bounce back between austin and galveston. ((live on the island, go up to austin monthly in the year, more so in the summer. family, friends, MUSICA! haha.)) and yes, i do like slowreader but i only know of them because this girl infront of me at waterloo was a fan. thus, ive heard like two songs that she sent me. D:

hasnt this been fun? :]

you should try Sufjan Stevens..hes kinda like iron and wine. but he fantastic. you should also try the Doves...but their earlier music (they're kinda like coldplay...sorta. but better):) you might like Magnet as well, which is like death cab somewhat...all groups are really great, and from the music you like, i think you might like them

haha, i went through hell to get it though.

trustme, i wish i still listened to the radio and thought straight. ireallyreallyreallydo.

yaknow, neitzche theorized that the greeks created music as a way of expressing their isolation, the underlying sadness to their society. and i think maybe thats continued on. D:

mmm, and cant forget highfidelity:: are we sad because we listen to pop music, or do we listen to pop music because we're sad?

eep.
