I don't know if anyone involved in this discussion is actually an anthropologist or studying anthropology but I am an anthropology major so I thought I would add this.
Much of the "we should give them technology" or "they will die from our diseases" or "we have to leave them alone" arguments are very out of touch. Modern anthropologists go in in small field study teams and meet with native groups on their own terms. They have extensive medical records to show that they have no contagious illnesses.
These field studies are conducted in an non-intrusive manner. There is no attempt to exchange technologies or ideas. The anthropologists strictly go in to learn and for the time they are there they attempt to live as the tribe does. And when they leave they remove everything they brought with them.
Anthropology is not like it used to me and the purpose is to protect tribes like these and to encourage their way of life, not to indoctrine them like the missionaries did.
Please don't make assumptions like this about anthropology.
Yea, statutory rape anyone?
These children have no freedom. They have no individual rights or freedoms. And when they become adults of course they don't think they are being abused because this is all they have ever known. They don't know that they should be allowed to fall in and out of love with countless celebrities or that they should be able to have dreams of moving away fro college.
