i can't remember whether i ticked the challenge box on my last sub - is there any info on the email or on the pending design where I can tell whether it's a challenge or a regular sub?

it seems there's a good few dodgy Loves Photography designs in the running which might be crowding out the good ones....
So i thought it might be a nice idea to post up OTHER PEOPLE'S subs from the challenge that you think need to be elevated out of the mire!

NOTE: THIS IS NOT A PLACE TO PROMOTE YOUR OWN DESIGNS

So, i haven't scored anything close to all of them but this is one of my favs so far - it's unique amongst the rest and i love the extra character additions

this might be a bit cheeky but i was hoping to have a bit of a yak about other shirt sites. I pretty much submit solely to threadless because i know it and i like it and i'm too lazy to try get involved elsewhere, but i'm sitting on a few designs that are either past their 90 days or i just don't think would do well here and I don't know where to begin.
the only other site i've even vaguely dabbled in is Design By Humans and without much success at all but I'd like to change that. I know a good few people on here are successful elsewhere - i hear DBH and woot come up a lot but it all feels a bit like unchartered territory and I'm a little hesitant to get my feet wet.

so I'd like to hear a bit about what other sites you've used, what you think of them and what you'd reccommend? Are you more successful elsewhere than here and if so why do you think that is - is it your style, is it your presence or are you just damn awesome everywhere!

I took this photo just outside Yosemite National Park on our road trip last year.
I can't take credit for the clever graffiti obviously, but I love the sentiment and when the threadless loves photography challenge came up I wanted to try do something with it. I've had to muck about with it a LOT to try get it to blend into the shirt with varying degrees of success - if there's anyhting that really stands out awkwardly, please point it out! at the moment it's just a white halftone on black.

This is my little collection of designs that i've crashed and burned on and which i'm trying to get restarted. I'm hoping seeing them all together will spur me on to finish them, or that i may get some more diverse opinions.

so here is the rather large gathering of recent things I've started and not finished:

I did this for the Gap Vote Bright challenge and then misjudged the dealine and missed it! So now i don't know what to do with ti - sub it as is, rework it differently but then how (i just have this in my brain and i'm struggling to think past it), or forget all about it?











sadly there's plenty more where these came from, but these are the most recent

so i've made the bike clearer, put some subtle colour in the brain and shortened the neck.
i've also made a version with the first working of a helmet - personally i think it looks too much like a road safety ad or something with the helmet, but that could just be the way i've done it.

I'd like to make the bike clearer but preferably without making it white (which I've tried), and i've gone totally overboard this early with textures and shite but i was playing nicely!

I've seen a few of these and I think they're great ideas, so I wanted to make one myself and see how well I could do. I know it's almost May at this stage so i've used what I've achieved so far this year to try set reasonable goals that I hope to have a shot at achieving.
Here goes:

Submit at least 30 designs [15/30]






Submit at least 3 Atrium designs [1/3]



Score over 3 on at least 8 designs [3/8]




And a 2.99 on this which, as much as i like how they round it up, feels like cheating if i do it under these circumstances!

Participate in at least 3 Loves challenges [3/3]



Get 2 prints [0/2] :-(

Score 10,000 Designs [5,472/10,000]

digsy has scored 5,472 submissions, giving an average score of 2.37...

Help 200 shirts get printed (total) [120/200]

Can't wait to see what this list looks like in 8 months time!

UPDATE:

I HAVE A JOB!!!! I just accepted the offer so, pending signed contracts, i start working again on the 11 June!!!
it's from the one I had the second interview for recently, and I actually had another interview the same day that have asked me back for a second interview but which isn't as good as this role so there's no choice really.
The role itself isn't 100% perfect - they never are - but it's going to be challenging which is important to me, it has excellent career and growth opportunities and it's a great company that does awesome work which i'm really looking forward to being a part of! i'm really happy to have something - on one hand i feel like the doors to my dream job in something design-wise are closing, which took the wind out my sails a bit (call it a reality check!), but the reality is that those doors were never really fully open at this stage to begin with. And now by having a job and a plan for the next 18-24 months and most importantly an income again, i'm in a position where I can do some courses to help build be design background and experience and a portfolio so that in the future those doors will be fully open and I'll be able to go get the dream job!
i'm relieved and a little overwhelmed but ultimately happy!

thanks for all your support, fingers crossed nothing goes wrong between now and then! Now just to help my husband get a job and we'll be all fixed!

unemployment is starting to get a little miserable.
I pretty much feel housebound and I don't want to see anyone because it's getting embarrassing that I still don't have a job, plus my confidence and self-esteem is taking a hammering.
I just want to feel useful again, for someone to look at me and my CV and go "hey, she's good, we cold use her"
no such luck yet
