Hey!

So, i'm totally new to all this. Used Paint Shop Pro for the first time the other day. Attempted to paste my (very basic) design onto a threadless template but I can't! I just end up pasting it across the whole screen. Or i get messages about raster/vector layers blah blah blah....

Perhaps it's time to quit while i'm ahead? As a complete computer phobe this is maybe not the best place for me! Am slowly going bald, blood pressure increasing etc! However, if there is a simple solution, please please PLEEEAAASSSSEEE can somebody share it with me?!???

Thanks ;)

I confess the only version of PSPro I've managed to use effectively is an ancient version 4.something -- I had tried v7 a few years back but found the (then) new layer features to be a bit of a nuisance. So all I can say is good luck with it......

As for art/design, how do you usually do it? If you find it easier to work with pen, paint, and paper, make your designs that way and just scan them in. It's not mandatory to use the supplied templates......all you really have to do is show the design placement on a tee.

Thanks for getting back to me! Can I ask what programme you work with? And if it is at all user friendly?

Usually i'm an acrylics girl..big, bold colour. I initially did just scan in my image but it looked awful-pixel tastic..especially as the quality of designs by other users is so damn high!

Anyway, thanks again for the advice. Just heading off to work but i'll be sure to check out your work later!

I'm not much of a designer, sorry (I have zero submissions for a reason).....I just use graphics/drawing software for knocking off technical illustrations and also for the inevitable shits'n'giggles.

For really basic editing (cropping and resizing, format conversion) I use Irfanview because it's free and very easy.

For everything else I had been using the PSPro version 4 I mentioned, but now I'm slowly learning my way around GIMP. It's pretty decent software overall but the learning curve is kinda bumpy.

And I've been meaning to start learning Inkscape, which is a vector illustration program. It's in the same vein as Adobe Illustrator except it's totally freeware.

Oh, and for scanning, it sounds like you need to up-res the scanner settings: Try for at least 300 dpi image, save file as uncompressed TIFF. The file will be too huge for many purposes but that's where Irfanview will help. Just be sure to hang onto the original high-res TIFF-- if you get printed, Threadless will need the high-res.

Wow! All this computer talk is a lot for my little brain to take in! Thanks though...i'll attempt to check it all out when i have a spare few hours. ..

I did manage to check out your (few!) designs-it's good stuff. You should do more! Personally i'm getting so frustrated with the software, i'm starting to wonder if it's all worth it!!! I'll let you know if I ever do manage get anything up on the site-it will be a modern day miracle!!!

Lemonalle-I'm glad i'm not alone! Sorry I can be no help! Good luck though.

I am also using Paint Shop Pro, I think version 6, and

have downloaded a .PSD template which is 8 layers

and I have no clue how to take my huge .jpg with many

colors and resize it and divide it into 8 layers.

Or can I just submit a 640 x 640 .jpg and a 100 x 100

.gif for the thumbnail?

Sure would be nice if a site like this had a step by

step tutorial somewhere?!?!!
