latest sub design

I have been searching and searching to see if there is a way to change the color of a layer in the layer's palette in photoshop. I know I can select the layer and manually change the color by painting over what I previously had, but is there a faster way to do this? I have a design that has 5 shades of one color in it and I want to create an alternate of the design that has 5 shades of a different color. The shades are each on their own layer. Any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks
