Graduation speeches.

If you were asked to give a 5-minute graduation speech to an audience of thousands, what things would you talk about? Would you go the more talk about your experience route, or try to give an inspirational message in 5 minutes?

Totes experience, with real actual story/ies that epitomize your years. much less likely to give the same speech as someone else that way.

I'd talk about my college experiences and how they have shaped me into the man I am today, and then trail off into how I'm preparing for the zombie apocalypse.

Seriously, make jokes and be funny. I hate overly dramatic graduation speech's. The only two that I really remember were the funny ones. Being funny for 5 minutes on stage is tough, but Conan O'Brien is the king.

Make sure you mention "follow your dreams" and "the future is what you make of it" and a lot of inspirational quotes preceded by "someone once said". In fact, just read Chicken Soup for the College Student's Soul out loud, and close with Forever Young (club remix)

just make sure it's not all about you because that shizz is boring. i had to listen to a girl give shout outs to all her favorite teachers for a half hour at one of my 3 graduation ceremonies. -_- another guy was said basically nothing of substance but atleast he was a good speaker. that said, i don't think people really expect too much of student speakers. just keep it short & sweet and it'll be fine.

one time this guy gave a speech and he related it all to Harry Potter and ended it with the quote when Dobby died "what a beautiful place.. to be with friends" and we all cried. It was paramount.
