I loved Mastodon up to Leviathan. Blood Mountains sounded pretty well done but for some reason I never got much into it.

I'll be looking forward to this one.

Also, don't take personal the low response to your blog, seems most people here don't lke anything heavier than System of a Down.

haha, no offense taken.. im used to it. most of my friends think its annoying that i pretty much only listen to death metal when im wrking..

i no longer share my studio with anyone.
tracerbullet

i wish there were more death metal bands that sang about puppies and rainbows and stuff. the juxtaposition would be lovely.

KaeKae on Feb 13 '09 at 2:56pm
Amon Amarth sings about vikings at sea.. its pretty funny.

Who cares about the lyrics if the music is great?

I don't even mind if there are no vocals.

KaeKae on Feb 13 '09 at 3:00pm

Thanks for the priiiiiiiiiiiint but me thinks your enthusiasm may go unrewarded.

Opeth one of my favourite progressional death metal bands, even though they have gone off the boil a bit since this album.

I liked Blood Mountain the most, mostly cause i'm not into this kind of music traditionally and Blood Mountain was a nice eclectic combo of speed and death metal with some amazing musical twists.

I'll be listening to this one too!
KaeKae
KaeKae on Feb 15 '09 at 4:51pm

Opeth is beyond awesome, they've achieved a compositional and orchestrational level that very, very few bands have. And Deliverance is great as almost all of their albums (Orchid being the exception), but I think Ghost reveries is their musical zenith so far.

I'm going to see them live in about a month and a half, first time they've ever come to Mexico, hopefully they won't cancel like the last time.

I really, really wanted to see Martin Lopez live, but I'm excited nonetheless.

And I agree about Blood Mountain, Evan, I usually love when bands do that, as long as the quality remains I always encourage bands trying new approaches (like Dillinger Escape Plan with their last album).I honestly have no idea why I never got much into it, because it sounds like something I would get into.

Opeth are well known for their antiviral properties. It's good to maintain the dosage so...

and their awesome cover of Celtic Frosts Circle Of The Tyrants

This made me think of some of my favourite cover versions Opeth do a good version of Remember Tomorrow but I love this cover of Symptom of the Universe by Sepultura, enjoy.

I saw Opeth a few years ago they were amazing, so fucking tight live.

^That's one of my fave Mehuggah songs right there! The main riff blows me away every time. I haven't even heard Cynic's new (or newish) album yet, I didn't even know they were putting out new stuff until I saw they were touring with Meshuggah.

And Meshuggah is one of those bands that I really want to see live before I die, they've never come here, though.

SnS-Yeah I've seen videos and the DVD, but nothing beats the real thing, I'm anxiously waiting for it.

And I just started listening to Cynic's new (newish?) album, and it promises to be epic.
