Now showing the OSC Top 100!

Slogans are one of the truly fun parts of threadless, even though it lacks some functionality. One big baddy is the absence of a comment function but sloganeers have found ways around that by building up communities. If you love slogans and you have a feeling that your precious words are not really appreciated by the slobbering masses then hop on over to a brighter place: Official Slogan Club.

Of course word loving natures may also like numbers, so I have set up a simple Slogan Statistics page which can cough up a quick sum up of what the OSC member have up and running. Just hop on over:

Slogan Statistics Page

Try not to stress the server too much, it is a cheap one. Comments are welcome.

You, too, can save your slogan with... SAVE-A-SLOGAN! Just post your lesser lob, and watch it turn to a match-and-set ace in this competitive game of mental tennis we call life!

(Warning: Only ailing slogans are permitted for boosting.)

well, I'm hugely late.... I'd have sworn I 'watch'ified this blog when you started it... and then I assumed it had died off...

Anyway, now I'm on board. Still lovin' the slogan stats page.

I'm addicted to the Slogan Statistics blog and now setting irrational "MSQ" goals for myself.
As i delved into the comments to discover the Mystic Secret, I found Colorfool comparing hisown brain to Damascus steel and a muffin simultaneously. You gotta have a license for well-layered similes like that.
toopersent
toopersent on Mar 18 '09 at 9:32pm
My whole slogan processing code ignores every slogan with less then 15 votes. 15 votes are usually achieved by normal voting within 48 hours, so that shouldn't be a problem. The reason is that I don't want these slogans to influence the stats and I also want to give people a chance to delete the really crappy stuff before it appears on the list.

dude, you are soooo smart.
colorfool
colorfool on Mar 19 '09 at 3:31am
@sparky: The muffin part of my brain doesn't like to remember the Damascus steel thing. It cuts. The Damascus part doesn't seem to have any hard feelings about the muffin, though.

Tip from the side line: if you set your MSQ goal slightly lower then your actual MSQ then it is easier to achieve.

Also I just wanted to suggest to you to raise the MSQ by deleting everything below 30%... but then I found myself voting on your underachievers, instead. Suggestive clothing provides helpful hints. is actually great, as is Trees consider all dogs barkless.

@toopersent: I love the way you drop by from time to time and just say something very positive. Spread the good vibes! You're doing it right!

Also: I blame the finger pointers. is gold! It is short and amazing. It should print!
Sparky the Wonderboy

Thanks, CF. Raise my MSQ all you want that way!

Obviously a master baker forged and folded the manifold layers in your muffin brain.

You should put the definition of the MSQ up there in the main bloggity thing, since I forgot what it was... I found out, but had to search for it...

Just finding more work for you to do! YAY me!

...or not.

I am still like, well, and then I am like, err, and also I am like, mmmm. You know. If it ain't Mystic then there is just SQ, and how much fun would that be?

I agree with you, partly, though. I shall change the presentation at the top of this here blog.

There are more and more great slogans around! Did you notice? By now you already need a 73% rating to enter the top 100 list! When I started this list some weeks ago, 69% were enough. The OSC is raising the bar!

I have no idea if this has come up before, thanks to my lack of long term memory, but...

Did you know you can summon up your stats multiple times on the stats page? YES! IF you are bored to just such a degree, you can, say, for example, to wit, bring up your stats, go change your slogans (i.e. delete some, resurrect some old ones) and then summon up the 'new you'!

Compare your MSG to yourself if you like! Then you can also do it for your MSQ...! Find out what your top 6-10 slogans are the cumbersome way...! You can even, er... ah... well, I'm sure there's more you can do with it....

Yes, for a moment, I was that bored the other day...

*sigh*
Sparky the Wonderboy
Sparky the Wonderboy on Mar 27 '09 at 11:45pm
@ brgrin: There is indeed more you can do with that page.
If you leave up your stats, next time you open it you can immediately see any changes - vote totals going up, mysterious MSQ recalculations, top 5 activity. If the two stat boxes are identical, no one has voted. And all without looking at your actual slogan page.
By comparing my current stats with a version I left open on the page 10 days ago, I learned:
Average score, up 4.2%
MSQ, up 16%
Average length, down from 44 to 42.4 characters
and many other things.
My top 3 have all held steady or dropped a bit %age wise while picking up votes slowly. But #5 from 10 days ago would only be #12 today (had to check the slogan page for that). And today's #s 4 and 5 hadn't been written then.

And no, I wasn't bored. It was interesting at the time.
