Hi Guys,

I'm a newbie here and I have a question regarding the $2,000 prize ( it's $2,500 now right? ).

I've been looking at the chosen winners from each week since last year and it seems to me that there is at least an average of 11 to 15 designs being chosen each week. There was a week last year ( tees announced on Dec/02/08 where it was like 22 designs where chosen).
.
So my question is, do all of the artist of these designs individually receive the prize money of $2500? Or do the judges pick only ONE grand prize winner among those designs they chose for the week to receive the prize money?

That's all you guys. Thank you and have a good day.

all receive the money (incidently it's $2000 cash and $500 gift voucher, although you can opt for $300 cash in place of the voucher)

sorry that's $200 rather than $300...

from the submission page

* $2,000 in cash
* $500 Threadless Gift Certificate (can be redeemed for $200 cash)
* $500 in cash each time your design is reprinted
* Up to $20,000 more if you win a "Bestee" in the Threadless Awards
* Alumni Club membership including a Medal of Honor and other goodies

It's worth mentioning that they don't have that many designs on a weekly bassis.

There are always 2 (sometimes more) reprints. If they reprint a design, the designer gets $500.

There are usually 6 (sometimes more sometimes less) new designs, each designer get's that $2,000+

There are 2 Type Tee Prints, the person who rwote the slogan gets $500 and the person who designs the shirt thereafter gets and undisclosed amount.

Then there's one Select Tee Print. Select Tees are designs by artists who have had at least 4 printed designs through threadless and I think there are some other outlets from which the cull their designers as well. The special part about the Select designs is that threadless gives them the prize money for whatever the designer dreams up, no voting or waiting.

No problem. Now start submitting!

I'll jump you over a quick hurdle.

Use the critique blogs to tweak a design, but also blog about it in the general blogs to attract attention to it (the critique bloggers and the general bloggers rarely cross streams) It's always good to ask a very particular question about how to improve a specific aspect of your design to get any sort of response. And last, if you don't get a lot of response, don't let it rub you the wrong way, it's hard to get a lot of attention unless you've presented the blogs with the best thing they've seen all day.

Lastly, if a submission you have is declined before it goes up for vote or it drops early, don't complain too much. The bloggers tend to leap down the throat of anyone who thinks their shit don't stink.

There's a newbie blog somewhere that covers all of this, but I was bored and decided to type it all out anyways.

Again, thanks for the newbie help Papaprime!

I have another question though. Would it be much better to submit a design on the very first day of the new week cycle of the contest so that the design will have a much better chance of being seen and critiqued and scored by more people as opposed to submitting an entry on the very last day of the competition?

If you have time Papaprime, your comment would be most welcome.

Thanks in advance.

I don't know submitting it on a certain day will have an effect on the number of voters. Like others said before, the best way to have your design seen by other people is to just blog about it. Keep one submissions blog or just create a new blog every time you have a design up for scoring. :]

each design gets a week of scoring. Unless it's dropped early, so I don't think submitting it on a certain day would give an advantage.
