So it's become pretty obvious to me that you can't have much success on this site without feedback (me = stupid until something is proven obvious most of the time). I've only delved into the slogan part of the site for now, but it's hard to see where your idea stands as the slogans filter out so quickly.

Anyway, I could use your help. If you have the time, it would be nice if I could get a few votes on my slogans. I don't care if you like them or hate them, I'd just like to know where they stand, and filter out the junk when possible.

Thanks much.

Thanks for the comments and votes!

Cheese is nice, but there isn't a whole lot of variety unless you can spend a lot of money. It's mostly just Cheddar.

I'm from Ketchikan, a southern island along the panhandle. If you remember the 'bridge to nowhere' stories, Ketchikan was going to get one side of the bridge, so that's it's claim to fame. Best part was that it wasn't cold, stayed 60-ish all year round.

Cool. Sounds like a nice area. I'd like to go up that way someday. The only downside to AK is that there is too much to see.

"Talent" is my favorite! I also voted up "Apathetic", even though similar ideas have been subbed already, and I really didn't want to like it, it was just so perfect. :)

I'm glad you have this blog; I just started one like this myself.

"Halloween: A Happy Occasion For Both Children And Dentists Alike."

I like the idea, but it feels a little clunky. What about something like "Halloween: Favorite Holiday of Both Children and Dentists." or "Children and Dentists Agree: Halloween Rocks/Is the Best!"
PuppetMeat
PuppetMeat on May 03 '09 at 9:19am
Thanks for stopping by one of my eldest blogs. :)

I agree. It's not a very well executed slogan, lol. I wasn't planning on keeping it, though. It's for the current slogan tournament, so I just kinda threw it out there to see what happens.

Your rewordings make a lot more sense than my submission. If you would like to sub one of them, feel free to do so.
HaloGirl
HaloGirl on May 03 '09 at 1:10pm
Thanks for giving me the OK to sub. What do you think of this version instead: "Children and Dentists Agree: Halloween is Sweet!"
staffell
staffell on May 03 '09 at 1:17pm
hey halogirl - it's a great slogan, but imo, the X and Y agree slogan has been done to past death now, so if you want to maximise your printing potential, i'd try a different iteration.

that's just me though
HaloGirl
HaloGirl on May 03 '09 at 1:33pm
Are any of these better?
"Dentists give out the best candy at Halloween"
"Dentists secretly love Halloween"
"Have you ever wondered if dentists secretly love Halloween?"
"Who loves Halloween more? Children or dentists?"

(Sorry to hijack your blog, PM... just building off your idea.)
PuppetMeat
PuppetMeat on May 03 '09 at 2:39pm
"Children and Dentists Agree: Halloween is Sweet!"

That's the best version, imo. I'm not sure how it could be made better. I'm not really good at thinking of slogans like that. Once they're outside my head, I can't work them any more. :P

Don't worry about the use of the blog. This was meant for discussion anyway, so I'm glad it's doing it's job.

Mr. Puppetmeat. I've never been printed for a design or slogan. So my preferences may be like sand in the wind...useless...

My favorite slogan of yours is...

If Your Pants Are On Fire, Being A Liar Becomes Less Important

my least favorite is...

Live Dangerously. Walk Backwards.

The only observation I see in the difference is clever Vs. quick and based on individual experience and taste. Not that I am a crusader for walking backwards. But...who cares? The first one is a great clever play on an old saying.
PuppetMeat
PuppetMeat on May 03 '09 at 4:10pm
Firstly, thanks for stopping by. Second, your preferences aren't useless, they're what will get you printed sooner or later.

I understand what you're saying. Slogans that play off of an old saying or line are often better received, and rightly so (if it's actually clever), but that doesn't mean the quick or shorter slogans don't have their place.

I think the joke (in Walk Backwards) lays in that you can be in just as much danger walking backwards as anything else. Fitting in well with all the extreme and adrenaline sports that abound.

If you don't like it, that's cool, it's not my favorite, either, lol. People have their favorites and least favorites. Thanks for giving me both of yours. :)

You can be Clever and Quick at the same time, too. The slogan I've had printed was just something I typed in after Math class cause I thought it was funny, and it worked out alright. :P
