I’ve been in an unusually creative/crafty mindset lately, and I love it. I’ve been busy with the whole two jobs and finishing school deal for some time now, but because of that I’m finding that when I get new ideas/thoughts on something unique and fun to do, they evolve into pretty elaborate things I end up actually doing:

Example: I wanted to do something special for my boyfriend to celebrate being “officially” together for three months. This day happened to fall on February 1st, also the day of the Superbowl. With the Steelers playing (and being his team), I knew it would be a day that would be memorable already, but I wanted to raise the bar on that with a surprise…

I ordered Steelers M&Ms from mymms.com. I then told my boyfriend I got a present for him, and he’d get it Sunday so of course, he thought “Steeler’s shirt” and asked if that meant he shouldn’t buy any team apparel. I told him that was of course not it, even though he agreed it would have been nice since he didn’t have anything to wear to support his team anyhow (which I hadn’t realized). Anyways, I waited for the M&M’s to come, and began to plan my next move. I bought a card that said “You deserve a cookie” on the front, and “okay… maybe two cookies” on the inside. I’m not a fan of mushy cards so I bought that because it wasn’t too much for me to handle. Anyhow… I figured I’d write underneath it something like “or maybe three” to signify three months, or even “or however many you like” and just making him a bunch of cookies. Then I thought that making Steelers M&M cookies would be the cutest thing… so I went for it.

We made plans to go to a party, so I simply made plans to make a lot so we could share them. I made chocolate chip, oatmeal chocolate chip, white macadamia nut, and peanut butter cookies… all with cutely placed Steelers M&M’s on them…

To make a long story short - the pricey cost of the M&M’s were WELL worth it, they turned out perfect, he loved them and of course it was something unique so they truly were pretty special. I’ll never forget them, that’s for sure… and it really didn’t require much effort at all. I put the cookies on plates and in gallon-sized plastic bags, and wrapped them in a clothing gift box… there was no way he had a clue what was in it. My only regret is that I didn’t take a very good picture… I wasn’t thinking much of it and I was in a hurry to get over there without being too suspicious, so I just snapped a quick photo with my point and shoot camera to show my mom and a few other people I had mentioned my idea to.

The Steelers Cookies I made for my Boyfriend :)

I’m currently in the process of brainstorming for Valentine’s Day… which I plan to make epic as well.

Wow; those M&Ms came out looking great! We ordered some for some of the loan folks here at my bank and the wording was terrible to try and read.

yeah well after totaling $50 for three backs after shipping and handling i knew there was no way i'd stand for bad quality. baking the cookies was a trick though, you couldn't put the M&M's in the oven with the cookies, i tried putting them in for 2 the last two minutes to make sure they sunk in, and the icons melted right off... i then realized if i pressed them into the cookies quick right after taking them out of the oven they worked perfect :)
