I first became aware of Shepard Fairey when I lived in South Orange County, California and I would see the Obey stickers defacing public property. Not only stickers but spray painted faces ironically shot with stencils by skate kids from privileged families that were trying to be graffiti artists.
They didn't have the decency to at least actually free hand paint graffiti, ha- they used stencils for god's sake. Well apparently Shepard Fairey cannot paint either or draw or anything.
I am sure this is old news but in light of the Obama poster / AP flap I did some poking around and found a great article about Shepard:

Obey Plagiarist Shepard Fairey

Check it out- it pretty much disgusts me how he utilizes other peoples art and imagery and CONCEPTS / IDEAS and adopts them as his own. what an absolute tool. Guerrilla artist my ass - more of a guerrilla opportunist.

Check out my latest sub: PK

this post is for all the bad designs that we have all had... but then came to our senses. I have a lot of them.

1) After the Michael Phelps bong incident i started sketching a parody of the Obama Hope image with Phelps holding a bong over Dope.... I know, I know....

2) I started to sketch out the Octomom as a large sci-fi creature her tentacled arms outstretched stepping over a city scape as the Frankenstein type doctor is off to the side...
(yeah - i know- too topical)- i was even going to have her holding her eight premature babies!!!

3) started to sketch a girl wearing fish net stockings with fish caught in them-- but thought --naaaaaaa.

4) thought of two guys punching a cat-- oh yeah, I actually did make this one-!!!

YOUR Turn-- share you bad idea!

God, I love when I see terribly crappy submissions. Let me explain: I mean you have so many talented artists / graphic designers here like:

alexmdc
Glennz
Thunderpeel
Flying Mouse 365 / chow hon lam
Haha.sg
Bisparulz
xiaobaosg
Mezo
fatheed
wotto
ratkiss
igo2cairo
badbasilisk
isaboa
frickinawesome
againstbound
kooky love
just to name a few.

They are all so goddamn prolific, have their own unique styles and are able to create t-shirt designs that connect with people. That is why it is heartening to see terrible crappy subs! (I know- I am terrible!)

When I do see a rather amateurish lousy design I generally find out the person who created it is a blind 12 year old who drew it in art class in under 10 minutes!!!.... while I labor over my stuff for hours and hours!

Anyway- props to all the awesome creations here- I aspire to such greatness.

Enough already! Please stop it with all the fertility drugs, egg harvesting, the implantation of fertilized eggs, everything... just stop it already!

Guess what... your genetics are not that special that you absolutely need to pass them on.

Just because science can do something does not mean that it is a good thing.

It is reported that at any given time there are 120,000 kids that are waiting to be adopted in the United States- so guess what people- we do not need to be creating litters of babies-

Is it worth creating premature babies that may have a lifetime of health issues just because you want a kid that has your eyes?????

just please stop it-
(whew.....- thanks I feel better now)

My Last Punching Kitty Tweak – please tell me what you think

Hello all:

Here to pimp my latest design:

ondas magnéticas [click]

no clever play on words or jokiness at all, just a clean design of what used to fascinate me as a kid- a good ole horseshoe magnet.

Interesting tidbit:
As a consequence of Einstein's theory of special relativity, electricity and magnetism are understood to be fundamentally interlinked. Both magnetism lacking electricity, and electricity without magnetism, are inconsistent with special relativity, due to such effects as length contraction, time dilation, and the fact that the magnetic force is velocity-dependent. However, when both electricity and magnetism are taken into account, the resulting theory (electromagnetism) is fully consistent with special relativity[7][8]. In particular, a phenomenon that appears purely electric to one observer may be purely magnetic to another, or more generally the relative contributions of electricity and magnetism are dependent on the frame of reference. Thus, special relativity "mixes" electricity and magnetism into a single, inseparable phenomenon called electromagnetism (analogously to how special relativity "mixes" space and time into spacetime).

What a 2008 Christmas it will be. We have the 3 heads of the big 3 American auto companies begging the congress for some Christmas cheer. We have forecasts of increased housing foreclosures and a tightening of credit for both business and personal needs. There is talk of a prolonged recession with no end in the foreseeable future.

On a personal level, the company that employs me is experiencing expansion and a decrease in our sales all at the same time. We opened up another facility 3000 miles away from our current location at the same time the recession was bubbling away like a slow cooking teapot. Now everything is about to blow and going to work is like walking on eggshells. Our original location is a shell of it's former self and every other employee is wondering if her or she is the next one to be laid off.

Is this a sign of the times? It seems to be. It saddens me that many of my colleagues are going to be losing their job right before Christmas... it really is a shame.

On the other hand- the negativity that is sweeping across the nation oftentimes fanned by the media can itself effect the economy and the economy of happiness. While I cannot shield myself or my family from the torrents of bad news I do feel blessed to have those around me who I care about and who care about me.

It is important to remember that at times like this. It is the perfect time to volunteer and help people out. Donate food to food banks, donate your time to feeding the hungry or furthering a personal political cause or listening to someone who is down and out and needs someone to talk to.

When times are tough the best remedy is to give of oneself until it hurts.
