see any resemblance?
if pic doesn't work, go

HERE

i know there is a certain amount of idea sharing that happens across the globe around the same time....but this comes out almost a year and a half after the madness of mission six....so go figure.

i think what ticks me off most is I am currently doing a complete redesign of mission 6 for my own shirts and prints (and because legally, the old one is threadless's now)...
because to be honest although i felt the concept of mission 6 was strong, I always knew i rushed the artwork on it to get it in the old '5 color contest' dealine over chrismas holiday when i was out of town and did not have the time, supplies, or personal computer at my disposal. I was getting set to launch my new clean, retooled, slightly reimagined version and then a fan of mission 6 wrote me asking if i had prints, and lead me to this japanese style version.

what do you guys think.
same layout, except mirrored (as it would be in eastern art), same concept, if you ask me

i had posted a blog about how when i bring my sketchbook to work, we're too busy for me to doodle or draw- and when i leave it at home it's so painfully slow i wish i had the tools to do art.

but i figured out a way around it, and it was probably pretty obvious-
draw on the paper we stock at the print shop.. duh. you don't NEEEED to put everything on bristol board, Travis..

SUCCESS!
mecha3

it was slow yesterday, and i used this kick ass 11x17 cardstock used for color copies to redraw my old mechalucha vs quetzalcoatl drawing.

i'm gonna buy a ream- this stuff kicks ass. you can draw and erase all day long on this stuff, and it doesn't tear or rough up. and it's acid free and all that other jazz.

give me a second to get the name brand or stock number for all you other illustrators.

it's finally driven me byond insanity.

when it's slow at work, i want to draw, doodle, work on designs. but i never have my sketchbooks or any good pens.
tons of ideas flood into my head. but nothing to do with them, so i get on the freaking 'net.

SO then when i do bring paper and supplies- in the hopes it will be slow, we are too busy for me to even THINK about working on stuff. To even unzip my bookbag.

and for every day i leave art supplies at work, we're too busy for me to ever even begin.

BUT as soon as i give up and bring my stuff back home, we will be deathly slow again- until of course, i attempt to bring my art supplies back in.

the cruel cycle has me ripping my eyeballs out.

do you have these problems?

lots of things creep me out.
but when people make a robot that looks like a giant headless dog that moves with the precision of a giant bug...i get creeped out.
wait until you see them KICK the thing. (36 seconds in)

now post something that unnerves you a little. pics or vids, your call.

- from my favorite 'reality show' of all time, "Junkin"

i've dropped it's name here before, it was a regional cable show on Turner South network, and was dropped (despite winning TWO EMMYS!) like all other programs when that channel switched to sports coverage in 2006.

As it happens, some of mankind's best achievements are on youtube, so i ask you to watch and enjoy Dave Bird and Val Myers as they would hit the local bumpkin fleamarkets and buy things really cheap to resell on ebay.

by the end of the series, people were bidding crazy high on stuff just to own something they touched (maybe?) or get their name and pic on TV as the winning bidder.

dave had it down to an art- on how to make fun of the bumpkins without them really knowing it.

these aren't laugh out loud funny, i can't find any of the classic bits- but it was a very down to earth good natured show.

RIP

our default start page at work shows- among other things- the 6 most popular webclips of the day.

so everyday i have to see some litle square with chris crocker's whiny open mouth and tilted head in it.
his hair gets longer and blonder,

people really still watch him?
is he deep? funny? or are people just laughing at him?
i need to know because i don't care to watch and put another click on his view count.

it's just really getting to me.
personally i think some kind websoul should just buy him the sex change he obviously wants.
i think maybe he wouldn't be such an attention whore anymore.
or maybe he'd be worse?

and it's not that i care that he's beyond feminine and gay, but i get the feeling that if there was no internet and he didn't have that drop of fame, he may be wearing ladyskins and ordering someone in a well to put lotion on theirs.
he just exhibits those kinds of extreme swings of mood and traits.

well, that's my opinion.
what's yours?

so, uh- why did he even have to pay?

if part of his job was to investigate and bust the prostitution racket, couldn't he just say-
'i want your top line hookers, whenever i want, for free- or i bust you guys'?

to which they might respond 'if you bust us, we'll tell on you'(or say you even came to us with an offer of blackmail for services)

to which he might say- 'would you tell on me if it meant outing and losing your operation'?

to which they would have no response.

so it was foolproof.

why did he have to even pay?

spacesick? bortwein? all you other 30 year old types, help me out- which do you prefer.

VS

i saw better off dead again yesterday and think i finally like it better than the obvious choice, one crazy summer.

i mean, you have the 'two dollars!' bicycle kid, the racing japanese guys, booger in a top hat, and what i feel is a more touching story. plus the french chick is way hotter than raspy ol' demi moore.

she made me wish we hosted a foreign exchange student back when i was like 10.

one crazy summer has that whole cartoonist thing that i used to identify with, but bobcat goldthwait and the rest just get on my nerves now.

so what's the verdict?

whoever loses, Cusack wins.

savannah has the second biggest celebration in the nation, after boston.
why?!
and the same people that claim to be irish here also claim to be german come oktoberfest.

the city basically shuts down. so many streets are closed you can't get anything done, but traffic is so dangerous you don't dare leave either.

so i stay home and lock the doors and pretend that the screams and moans and drunks shuffling in the streets are zombies.

:)

but then i got an assignment to do a st pat's pinup for the kansas city pitch and that makes the holiday brighter.

I think there will be a few different subs in the top 20 once all the loves threadless have finsihed scoring. Travis has to be up there somewhere, his last few subs have lifted the bar on here--------

I don't know if anyone else who's been hanging around threadless for far too long (like myself) gets really excited when under-printed designers put out a sure thing - but I know I do. I feel the same way about this as when I first saw "No Peeking" by Jublin. That "THIS is a print and it couldn't happen to a better person."
Enjoy your...uh...12 pack of Red Bull.
