I went to barnes and noble tonight to buy a fortean times magazine (forteantimes.com- good source for weird world news)...and within walking through the door, i see a young couple walking out, and the wife is wearing Robot Derby Girl! I was so happy! not only was this my first actual sighting- but it was in my town!

so here's the corny part- what the fuck would YOU do?
she seemed pretty down to earth, she was on her cell phone, so i just pointed at her shirt and smiled and whispered "i designed that shirt- thanks for wearing it!" and she was like "oh really? awesome oh my god, Hi! thanks!" so i just sheepishly said- 'sorry, it's my first sighting of it -thanks again' and walked on in- she kept saying wow thanks...i can't help but wonder what she said over the phone after that..

"yeah, sorry, some crazy dude said he drew my shirt, okay so where were we?"

ha ha, no, they both seemed really nice.

weird timing though. lots of weird opportunistic things happening to me lately.... :)

hey that's awesome! i'm sure it was neat for the lady, too.

apparently a few of my friends have spotted some girl on campus frequently wearing my "electromagnetic spectrum" shirt (appropriately, near the science buildings), but i've never seen them. i would probably be like, hey i recognize that shirt! but would probably be too weird to say something.

well, i don't know of any savannah members/bloggers, much less ever see any threadless shirts in town- thought there's like one guy who always wears some... so that was like 1 in a billion for me.

travis, baby, sweety, shuga3.14...the best thing to do, and the most humble thing to do is to smile and appreciate seeing it, and then tell your wife, friends etc that you saw it. that's it. that's the humble thing to do. it IS great seeing your own stuff on someone, it is great gaining acclaim when they recognize you, it's awesome when you're asked about it. it's an awesome feeling.

put it this way, in public, i don't announce. i am simply happy that someone is wearing, holding, enjoying something i did.

Travis, in this case, humility be damned and ignore r.o.b.o.t.i.c.octopus!

I think there will be a few different subs in the top 20 once all the loves threadless have finsihed scoring. Travis has to be up there somewhere, his last few subs have lifted the bar on here--------

I don't know if anyone else who's been hanging around threadless for far too long (like myself) gets really excited when under-printed designers put out a sure thing - but I know I do. I feel the same way about this as when I first saw "No Peeking" by Jublin. That "THIS is a print and it couldn't happen to a better person."
Enjoy your...uh...12 pack of Red Bull.
