I love Sailor Moon. I've seen the Sailor Stars series too, which they didn't bring over because of the whole lesbian/tranny thing.

I had to check that out on Wikipedia. Sometimes i wonder how anything Japanese made sense to me as a child. If she loves a woman as a man does that really just make her straight? I can see how adults wouldn't want kids asking these questions, but they probably wouldn't ask them. I know I would've just accepted that a magical transorming charcter could do that. But yeah, I can see why it wasn't translated into English.

I really like how fans can translate stuff on the internet for other fans now. I'm one for following the rules, so downloading the latest blockbuster movie is outright theft in my opinion. But translating stuff the makers/distributors never bothered to release is OK. And that probably makes me a hypocrite, but whatever. I think stubby43 knows a bit about this, he was saying it can actually encourage them to translate things and release them by seeing what's popular.

with fear of seeming totally nerdy, back in the 90s i was part of some big efforts to get more sailor moon episodes released dubbed and subtitled (it was called S.O.S. - save our sailors), but in the meantime, watched like 5th generation VHS tapes with engrish subtitles...

haha yea. I don't want to watch the later ones because of subtitles....but I guess I should :/

So probably by next week I'll be done with my dvds and I can watch all the others

Wow supprised to get a mention in a blog thanks John, when I first started talking about that it was really only theory arguing that fan subs are potentially a good thing but recently one of the biggest fan sub and streaming sites on the internet crunchy roll went legit.



It has contracts with Japanese distributors to stream the programs 30 minutes after they air in Japan with subs you have to pay a subscription fee but its pretty reasonably for what you get.



The only bad thing is it's cutting dubbing companies (who spend alot of money buying licenses) out of the market. They've got a long way to go and a very steep learning curve before alot of them will be profitable again.



The internets a double edge sword and it will kill the companies that cant adapt.

But back to sailor moon, back in the early days of the internet when you couldnt download programs because the speed was two low I got my anime kicks from fox kids and nickelodeon.



They were the only people showing anime at the time (in the uk) so I watched pokemon, digimon, sailor moon and card captor sakura.



I keep going back to them because they were my first anime's, I recently downloaded all of the digimon movies and I'm thinking of downloading the first two series.

HOLY CRAP VKLL!! i totally got the VKLL fansubs! they were the best because they were recorded from laserdiscs! hahaha
