Hey there all of y'all,

I love threadless, me. Problem is, I signed up here to get designin' la-dee-da etc, but ended up getting so caught up in the scoring & critiquing rigmarole that I've yet to actually submit any designs myself. Not to mention the likes of FM and A-DMC can make you feel so graphically inadequate, your wilkins actually inverts. Epic Fail!

So, I thought a good way to motivate myself might be to monopolise some blogspace and get my ideas out there thusly. So, if something's not working/been done before, you mighty deities of threadless can shout it down before I invest too much time and energy into it. These are just some proofs of concept - rough sketches that I've done on the tube to work, just faffed with the brightness/contrast in photoshop rather than inking them now and then being bewildered as to how to go through the many necessary corrections. Not putting these into critiques yet, because I'm testing theory more than execution here. Plus, more than one pic apiece and all that jazz.

IDEA THE FIRST: The 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse

WAR!
FAMINE!
DEATH!
Imagine them all lined up next to each other. I'll photoshop it later, too enar 2 am (on a work-day!) now. What's caught their eye?
TEMP!
(This could either go where they're looking, or onto the back of the shirt. If the former, then the following could always go on the back)
The Pale Rider

IDEA THE SECOND: Gods Playing Poker

You know that painting of the Dogs playing poker? What if the artist had been dyslexic? What exactly is a polytheistic deity to do all day, when their pantheon has fallen out of fashion? I'm thinking best not to rep any current, major religions, because that's a bit of a sore spot for a lot of folk (I'ma Pastafarian though, so what do I know?)

Quetzalcoatl

Odin, Anubis and some random other god. Problem is, they've all got 5 Aces.

KTHXBUY

4 horsemen for sure, All looking back seeing the Barbie like Princess on a "My Pretty Pony" type horse is riotous LMAO!!! No need for balloon text, maybe just a title like, "Wait for Me!" Anyway, awesome concept. OK, so like 3 for the idea, get to work dude :P

I basically agree with the other two; the horsemen idea is ace!

Cheers bluds, I'll try to clean up and ink those bad boys sometime in the nearish future. Also got to add more detail to Gods playing poker, obviously that's just the bare bones. Any thoughts on whether the horsemen works better with the princess hidden round the back, or her on the front and the Pale Rider laid up all sickly in bed with a tummy-bug (awww!)?

I see a lot of promise just in these sketches. You'll be fine. I think your 4 horsemen idea is fantastic!

Thanks - slightly concerned it may have been done before, but thus far I've been unable to find the likes thereof on here.

Hmmmm never seen the horsemen idea before so I think you're good to go - get cracking!! Before you do that though, update this blog with a more complete sketch of the poker idea because that's a good one too. Maybe you could do Zeus for the third god?

Yeah, was thinking maybe Zeus (and probably more than 3 gods total), but slightly wary of too many hyper-bearded deities. Was thinking maybe Pan from Greek mythology, Anubis or Horus from Egypt, possibly Amaterasu from Japan (not sure on that one though, the Imperial line is descended from her after all). Defunct polytheism gods basically. I mean, I'd love to have Jeebus dealing out the cards, but that'd go down like a lead b'loon.

Anyone got much of a clue on non-western pantheons? I want to international-up the poker match, could be a good conversation-starter.

Good call Quister. I actually pondered Ganesh because of multi-armed goodness, but he's still a pretty serious, major deity in the Hindu pantheon. I'll probably do one along these lines, and then one with the major figures of the world's religions, to piss off all the fundies.

Maybe Hanuman, the monkey-god. His feet and tail can double up as hands.
