So I have a little extra money this month, and I've set it aside to buy some new art supplies. I'm looking to spend about a hundred dollars. I have no idea what I'm gonna spend it on.

So tell me, my arting friends: What do you love?

Paper brands you like? Your favorite pens/inks/brushes/nibs for inking what you draw? Do Prismacolor/Tria/Copic markers live up to the hype? What's your favorite medium? Are you a die-hard fan of any brands? Which watercolor tubes can you not live without? What does your workspace look like?

I mostly do drawing and watercolor—but it's possible that that's because I really only have drawing and watercolor supplies. (Also, I am the rankest of amateurs at watercolor—tips welcome!) I've dabbled a little in screenprinting and relief printing, so if you've got stuff to say about either of those, let's hear it!

Or, heck, let's talk about textiles, too. Do you sew? What's a good project for a beginning crochet-er? Is it actually possible to learn knitting from a book, or do you need a mentor?

Photographers—little things that make your life easier? Film you like? I've got an old duaflex—is the hassle of finding/developing 120 film worth it?

TELL ME ABOUT WHAT YOU DO, AND LET ME ASK YOU QUESTIONS ABOUT IT.

This was fun. An exacto, poster board, and some material to inbetween the panels is all you need.

I love my Copic multiliners, great for detailed inkdrawing, my finest point is 0.03mm.

That's so cool! I Recently (and by recently, I mean yesterday) bought a calligraphy pen with a few different nubs. So. FUN. I didn't know inking was so fun. I'd been using crappy pens around the house, and I just got sick of the smearing and bleeding. So there's that. Really though, if I had the monies, I'd probably buy sculpting supplies.

White gel pen! I haven't been able to find a really good one (the Uni-ball Signo seems to be the holy grail) but they're neat for drawing fine white lines or highlights over darker colors.

Noh_Body, I really like that! I've done some papercut stuff, but usually just one or two layers. Yours has a really great sense of depth—is it actually lit from behind, or did you just layer the colors that way?

Braniel, do you do much with coloring/blending with those?

Its lit from behind. I actually have it mounted so its a free standing structure now. Here is the front lighting. IMG_0200
