So I'm new to this whole tee shirt design thing. First of all, I'd like any tips I can get that you amazing artists can offer. I myself am a young artist wanting to get my name out. I have a lot of designs I'd like to submit but I dont know what to use. Photoshop? I have another program called gimp but I dont know if it's any better. How do I apply designs to template images?

I'll ask more questions later on, no doubt but for now these are all I have to ask. Please offer up any advice and tips.
Thank You!

Hi, Arlina! I'm Leandro.
Do you know how to use photoshop?
Open your design, copy it, and paste it on a template (download here)
Good luck!

You should be able to use most of those templates with GIMP. There are a few that use a group layer mask that GIMP doesn't know how to interpret. Stick to the ones with the black label and there shouldn't be compatibility issues.

To use, place your design on the layer (or directly above or below the layer) that says 'Design Goes Here' and re-size it appropriately. Then turn on whichever shirt color you want and that should do it.

The basic flat shirt template at the end of the blog should be fine, too.

Oh my gosh! thanks for the templates and the tips. They've already helped tremendously. I have my first design done already but doesn't threadless have a certain requirement for each time they print something? Like a theme? Anyway I'm really thrilled. Keep sending tips my way!
Thank you!

How do I post an image with the format?

Threadless does have themes, but they also have the ongoing competition as well, so you don't have to submit to the theme. :]
