Is it okay if...
I copy this onto some thick paper with pen and ink? I'd buy it, but
a. I have no money, and Ask Me How I Became A Pirate has priority anyway
b. The detail might be too small for people to get it
c. I already have at least 4 natural shirts

I'd buy it as a wall design if/when blik makes it, but I haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate stickers of any kind. Seeing as I'd just be making it by myself to put in my room, is it okay for me to copy it, or should I track down the artist and ask permission?

You should ask permission if you intend to sell your tracing . If you just want it for personal use, you can do what you want.

I wasn't planning to sell it/pass it off as anyone's, of course, and I don't think anyone would believe I'd been able to design it on my own.

someone has contacted me asking if they could put my stuff up on their walls, I said go for it and it even made me think about making some 300 dpi stuff available.

So really contacting the artist couldn't hurt, it helps them at least.
