Wow, this is quite the discussion! I just thought it was funny that Paul Bunyan was eating his own Babe the blue ox. I knew nothing of the norwegian history behind the huge logger folk tale.

people. the story about the norwegian president is a lot of bullsh*t! the design is a dark twist to the paul bunyan myth - a giant lumberjack - in American folklore. he usually has a blue ox with him, his best friend, but in this teeshirt design, the artist subverts it (hence the bbq blue steak).

great design, very cute. I am a proud owner of one! :)

Like, a billion days later...thanks for the LOLs, guys. PB was one of my favorite tales as a kid, and we have not one, but two ginormous statues in my region (only one has a Babe though). I'm totally buying this shirt right now. "Mmmm...bluuuue."

I noticed a couple of minor inaccuracies though. Although it's true that Bunyan was allergic to potatoes, his aversion was mostly based on a belief that potatoes were literally poisonous. It was a belief commonly held in parts of Europe in the early part of the 18th century, which makes it a testament to Bunyan's irrational nature that he would hold on to such an outmoded idea in 1937.

Interestingly enough it was actually Bunyan's brother Peder who finally talked some sense into the prime minister and was instrumental in bringing in the infamous Innenriks Crop Lovgivning, or "domestic crop legislation" that actually made it illegal not to grow potatoes! I love history.

^ because of my Norwegian ancestry, my grandparents have kept a small potato patch at every house they've ever lived in. My mom, however, is not so traditional. She made my dad stop growing potatoes back in 1986.
