Hurricane Ike was cool to watch. We stood on the front porch during the worst of it and drank beer. I walked my dog in the Hurricane (well, just around the side of the casa--she's blind and I kept her on her leash). We live in NW Houston so we got the "eyewall" effect. The wind was cool and the storm really wild. Happily, only a few branches were broken off the big trees at casa oqi.
Unfortunately, we lost our power at 530 am on Saturday morning. Houston without power means Houston without air conditioning. Houston without air conditioning means experiencing Viet Nam quality humidity without the opportunity to acquire bad ass souvenirs. Sunday we had to evacuate because we are wusses and the first thing in the fridge to get warm was the beer. We're in Ft Worth at my brother's where the beer is cold. The neighbor called to say the power was back on Monday. However, we're too lazy to drive back and just keep putting it off. I've heard the grocery stores are out of beer. I don't have to be at work until Monday. I'm not taking any chances returning to Houston without a secure supply of St. Arnold's. You must be logged in to leave a comment.
