Any Wacom tablet users out there who can help me out? This has always annoyed the crap out of me when creating brushstrokes in Photoshop (particularly with with fat strokes). Anyone have any tips on how to get rid of the initial "blot" like in the image below? I've already tried messing with the pressure settings to no avail.

What's your 'tip feel' set to? Just wondering if that makes a difference. Mine is right in the middle - and I don't run into this blotting problem except for in Flash. Also, what is that brush? I like it.

it could just be that specific brush. . . or have you tried it with other brushes and are still getting the same problem?

hand pressure control.

the "tip feel" was set right in the middle but I tried to make it firmer too. not much difference.

it's not just this brush. the basic round brush does it too. this is a custom tip with a texture added to it. and even when i'm super gentle with the hand pressure it happens. it's like when it first registers it freaks out then goes to how it should be.

could it be my wacom pen? the tip does jiggle around a little, like it's loose a bit. any one else have that with there pen?

I had that a while too, but it basically means that just before you raise your pen of the tablet, you push a tiny litle bit. If you make such a stroke really carefull, you'll see the blots won't be there.

At least, I had that. Could be something else of course.

well, actually, those blots occur at the start of the stroke, as soon as my pen touches the tablet.

ow... wow.. hm..

maybe you can solve the problem by drawing the thick part first... But of course that's not the ideal solution..

What tablet do you have?

I have the Intuos 2 6x8". It's pretty old I guess.

hmm not sure. I've had that problem with illustrator before, but illustrator confuses me so I just chalked it up to that. Never seen that in photoshop... It could be your actual pen or tablet that's having problems, though I'm not sure that's the only explanation.

Also... that custom brush looks rad! What does the actual brush mark look like? I just started getting into the custom brushes. Never realized how much fun they can be.

jublin, i added an image of the brush tip above. you're right, it is fun. i've spent hours and hours in the last few weeks just experimenting with them trying to get the right feel.

sweet! thanks man. Maybe you can try reinstalling the wacom drivers? Sometimes when my table is acting fidgety, a fresh install helps.

yeah, i might as well. worth a shot. thanks!

hmm, updated drivers didn't seem to help much. anyone else have experience with this? i'm thinking that the tip on my pen is just overly sensitive and probably needs to be replaced. i have a newer tablet at work and while I notice it does this every once in a while, it's not a persistent problem like my older intuos2 at home.
