Not on the facade, but to implement his grandiose vision, he'll need a lot of tax dollars.

When the government takes my money and redistributes it to me in the form of health care, retirement, etc. - that's socialism.

I believe Obama's intent is pure, but I don't like his method.
shirtflirt

I don't have a real problem with socialism. I have a problem with Obama.

Either of these guys will surely do a shit job of running the country and we'll either have Obama convincing the country that it wants what he wants, or McCain going the Bush route and not even worrying about what the people stand for.

when the government takes more of what the individual makes, and doles it out to the masses through arbitrary groups, funding and social programs, you might be a socialist.

Obama is hope. Hope, however, is historically a very evil thing. Hope should never escape Pandora's Box. This country will be better off if Obama loses, so they can keep hoping. If he wins, and he sucks, then all hope will be lost.

Jeff Foxworthy and Shirtflirt teaming up for:

You Might Be A Socialist
shirtflirt
shirtflirt on Sep 11 '08 at 1:40pm
unfortunately, there is nothing tangible with hope. if obama at least had one good example of creating change through political action then at least his message could have some semblance of reality and less feeling of a pipe dream.

While I don't think "all hope will be lost" or that Obama is the embodiment of hope, they'll just brush it off and claim they weren't that invested and go back to not really caring.

By the same token, McCain is mych less a republican than the republican party. Did you know, in the senate, McCain votes against party line much more frequently than Obama? One of Obama's campaign points is that McCain almost always votes with Bush. In all reality, McCain is as different from Bush as you'll find in the GOP.

I'll give you that one..., but I think McCain is nearly as different.

He's not Austrian, tho...

I just think it's unfortunate that many people believe McCain is a political extension of GWB. Not even close.
