Hi everyone! I was hoping I could get a bit of help here. I haven't used flash very much (and by that I mean barely at all) so I'm having a bit of trouble figuring something out. I have learned how to make a button that will take me to a website, but I can't figure out how to make a button that will just take you to a different part of the same document, such as: http://www.threadless.com/submission/236377/POPulation_life
I don't want the screen at the bottom to pop up like that, I would just like to have the buttons all be visible on the page. So if you're sitting there bored with nothing better to do, could someone be a doll and help me out with this? :) Thanks!
I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Graphic Design just this March. A few months before then, I began interning at what has since become my full time job. Ever since I first stepped foot in here, I feel like my creativity left me. I work in one of what is probably the most liberal corporate buildings a designer could hope for in a nationally recognized company who's goal is making life fun. The thing is, no matter how "liberal" any corporate company may appear to an outsider, you have no idea how restrictive it can be from within! I'm sure that many people who work at more rigid companies would scoff at me and tell me to stop my complaining because I have it easy - but I think that my mind just doesn't work so well in a box, no matter how big that box may be. I've been on a creative dry spell for the past 11 months and I can't seem to get out of it. The good ideas I've had are few and far between, and when I do get a great idea for a personal project I want to work on, I begin and then drift off somewhere because I'm just too tired to finish it. You should see what I see in my head when I remember my original idea for the Threadless Loves Travel contest! I see it so clearly and I feel like it's one of the best designs my mind has ever conjured up... unfortunately, I couldn't find the time or energy to complete it and did what I believe to be a half-assed job.
Unfortunately, a girl's gotta eat and pay off student loans so that requires keeping the job. In these times of economic hardship, I am no exception as I'm starting at the bottom of the rung when it comes to pay - however I'm just waiting it out for my pay to rise because with all of these companies tanking, I lucked out in getting a job with one of the few who is making plan. So I dare not rock the boat by quitting and looking for a job elsewhere - besides, if I were to find a job elsewhere, wouldn't I just have the same problem? The problem isn't necessarily the job, but the career. I suggest to anyone who loves something never to exploit it for purpose of a career, it can take the love out of it.
I'm not very big on internet communities. I have the Myspace account we all must have in order to prove ourselves with a pulse in these days, but I use it only to keep up with people I know as well as keep up to date on music and indie films I enjoy. Threadless was introduced to me by a colleague who was surprised to hear that I hadn't heard of it before. One visit to the site got me hooked! I have only made one submission so far, but I don't plan to stop. Even if I never get the privilege of having my design printed, it's great to know that I can at least share my ideas and view work of fellow designers.
I have purchased 4 shirts from the site so far and will be posting my photos of myself wearing them. (Free money just for wearing a shirt? This is the best idea I've heard yet!) So this is my little "Hello" to the Threadless world out there! Expect to see more from me in the future! :) |
"I wonder if I've been changed in the night? Let me think. Was I the same when I got up this morning? I almost think I can remember feeling a little different. But if I'm not the same, the next question is 'Who in the world am I?' Ah, that's the great puzzle!" -Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll
