I was wondering if anyone out there ever tried to make toys, if there are places where I could naively ask ? I've made some stuff as a try... I guess it's a dream for a lot of people so I don't have many hopes, but let's try anyway...

Why not try the ikea flatstock version with paper toys:
http://www.custompapertoys.com/

totally within reach for anyone with cardboard and scissors and such.

i'm positive one of my teachers talked about this one company in an asian country (forget which) that makes your toys for you so long as you provide design examples (like you did, except with more views of each design:side view, back view, top view, bottom view and so on) for a thousand dollars or so.

which sounds like a lot of money but once you sell them you can gain it back pretty well i assume.

i'll try and see if i can find what company i'm talking about...

I would love to make paper toys, but I'm so bad at cutting and pasting things it would be awful... But I'll give it a try ! And I'll definitely ask Adam, making vinyl toys is the greatest thing ever !

And thanks !

And I'll try to sub the Verbal Violence Kitten, even if I'm still not sure about it ! :)

It would be cool Ginette !! Also I've heard some big japanese society (I don't remember which, it could even be some other country stuff) have some kind of 3D printer, and if you provide the 3D file they can "print it" in a plastic bloc... But, well, 3D softwares and I...

can you quickly summarize what I need to do to make a soft vinyl figure?
All toy figures are sculpture. You can sculpt your figure out of polymer clay, paint it exactly how you want your finished figure to look, then send that to a toy factory in China. They will make a rotocast mould from your sculpture, cast it in vinyl and then paint it just like the one you sent them. Once they've made the mould they can produce as many or as few of your toy as you wish.

link

sooo. it exists but i still can't find one myself.

oh man the 3d printers are so awesome but they must be like 10 times more expensive! same thing with that website phiffer posted probably. if you can find a chinese company it would be super cheaper.

Dude you should make them into stuffed soft toys; I think they’d look better as soft toys than vinyl toys

they'd look cool as vinyl as well though

I love stuff toys ! But with all the colors wouldn't it be too hard to do ?...
Phiffer I'll try to send them my things !
And I've read of 3D prints not so expensive... But maybe I misread ! I've seen this taiwan company which was kind of fitting...

Making 3D printouts of things is cheaper but if you want quality I'm not sure it's the best. . . my school had one which was awesome, but the material used in the final figurines often has a fuzzy, textured look and is often very fragile.

Well, for the 3D printstuff, if it needs some 3Dsmax skills, it's over right now ! And thanks so much Bcrider !!
