How many of you suffer from insomnia?

I'm not talking about that "I love staying up late!" thing that people like to call insomnia these days; I mean the real deal.
I'm talkin' about "I haven't slept in 3 or 4 days" or "I've slept 5 hours in the last 7 days" kind of insomnia.

You know... the kind of thing that leaves you feeling alone and desolate; neither asleep nor awake, living nor dead.
The kind of insomnia that leaves you feeling trapped in this strange, in-between purgatory-like place where you slowly wait for the rest of the world to start up its motors again.

Let us all talk about this.

But, before we do, I'm going to watch LA Confidential and then probably forget that I even wrote this.

Why do I taste blood all of a sudden? wtf.

Cheers!

i've never had much trouble sleeping mercifully, but according to the literature the solution is to start a Fight Club.

The best is when you've working on day 2 of no sleep and you see people yawning around you, saying how tired they are. Makes me want to stand on a coffee table and give a speech, but it's just easier to say nothing

I used to suffer from it pretty bad in my teens.

It happens pretty infrequently these days and usually only when I'm really stressed.

I get one or two hours a night if I'm lucky. Usually I'll hit the hay around 4am, but then turn the light back on around 5 or 6 to read as I'm not tired. I tend to catch up with a couple of hours napping in the afternoon though.

I'd say since the beginning of last year I've probably had no more than 10 nights of really good, natural sleep.

By the way, who's the guy in your profile pic? I've seen a couple of photos with him and am intrigued.

I'm pretty sure I'm not an insomniac but my sleeping habits are causing me problems, I'm going to bed at 4am and sleeping until 12pm and I'm stuck in this routine I want to get out of it but I'm struggling.

Plus I keep getting stressed out about work, which is part of the problem.

I've got some sleeping issues; but I'm never sure how bad it's going to be. Mine is a little different though, I fall asleep easy; but I wake up about an hour later and spend a good percentage of the night awake. So when I all adds up I get a few hours a night.

I also get it pretty bad, some 3 nights or so. But now there's ambien! *yeah* only my doc refuses to give me more, so have to ration it.

Bramish - it's an art series of that 'alien' type guy, pretty freaky, forgot the name or I'd post the link, but there's a whole bunch of photos with 'it'

Do you have a day job? One that is engaging mentally or atleast physically tiring? That will tend to cure some insomnia, since you HAVE to be there, and the work will tire you out.

I have trouble going to bed, mostly because I try to get too much done in one day, and yet still feel that I have things left I want to do. But I give in and get some rest, because I gots to pay the bills.

i certainly have a day job. being a tech dude for Threadless is certainly more mentally taxing than physically, but i've have multiple physical jobs in the past and nothing has ever made me sleep.

I've tried pills and stuff, too; no dice.

stupid brain.

I can get tired... and i DO get tired. a lot. i just can't sleep most of the time.

bleh.

You mean the insomnia that's cool the first couple of days...and then you realize all you want to do is sleep, not even eat or talk to your friends? and even if you exercise it doesn't help?!?! and then you spend hours on the computer or reading because you can't sleep and...yeah.
