I'm actually quite curious to see where this series goes. I think the one thing I really enjoy about it is the fact that each season seems to be a new chapter that closes by the end; there's none of the cross-season story arch stuff that tends to drag on for other shows.

i've never read the books, but i heard the 3rd book or later on in the series they started explaining a lot of Dexter's skills and feelings through some supernatural theme. Everyone was pissed and hated it. (i'm pretty sure it's based off a book series, otherwise i guess i'm making all of this up)

I don't see the series going in that direction. I mean, he talks about questioning a higher power occasionally, but it's all pretty grounded in reality.

If the show ever takes the supernatural turn, I'll just disavow any knowledge of those seasons and hold on tight to the (then) good ol' days. mmhmm. ignorance is bliss. ;p

They only just finished showing season 1 on free-to-air TV in Australia and for some reason they're not able to show Season 2 til next year, yet you can already buy it on DVD and they advertised it all through showing Season 1.

Yeah, I can't see a lot of people hanging out to watch season two on tv here.

i'm bumping this cos i just caught myself up on series three, and now really wish i'd waited till the whole series was available to watch! gnaah-i'm crap at waiting!

yeah episode 5 is the latest i think. I just watched it. Oh man, i'm loving the new dexter/jimmy schmitts relationship. i'm thinking it can't end well.

yeah... a lot of people show absolutely NO interest in this series, or simply don't find it enjoyable. I don't really understand why.

a lot complained that there was no humanity to him, so it was hard to like him as the main good guy. now that he's struggling with feeling human for the first time, people are complaining that he feels things too much.

personally, and this is sort of scary to admit, I think I identify with Dexter's character more than most real human beings. haha.

My new favorite show.

I asked a friend how he felt about the show. I tell him that it's chock full of metaphor (my ulterior motive is to see if he caught the metaphor). He says,"Well it's all sort of geared around the fact that you have to find dexter interesting, and i just find him obtuse

I respond: "there's nothing interesting about dexter, hence the metaphor.

Oh man, I love this show so hard.

Personally, Season Three really started to disappoint me in the end, but I'm loving Season Four more and more.

I just finished season 1. The writing is brilliance upon brilliance.
