Once a month or so we take Matt's dogs out and about, Cheesequake Park or the local one in our neighborhood. They have fun and we laugh at them. Good times for all.
Okay. So I'm not riding some high horse about my design and I think I should safely be allowed to say I enjoy my design without seeming like a pompous horse's ass. However, I recently received the average score of my first design and find that I apparently underwhelm quite a few people out there.
First Reaction:"Ah gee, that sure was a let down" Second Reaction: "My design rocks! Who are they to give me a 1.83?" Third Reaction:"Well, it is sorta my first design and...well, lots of the greats here on Threadless didn't get printed until their 20th or 30th sub... Flying Mouse was declined 100 times! (or so it appears according to his "I've been printed" vs "Submissions" lists.) Final Reaction:"I guess I have some work to do and I really should get on that. Golly, I love art." All in all, I need some sleep (spent the entire night in the emergency room due to a boyfriend's gastritis) and perhaps a bubble bath.
Thought I'd share an interesting request from Wade, the 3 year old I nanny, yesterday during coloring time. As is tradition the last few weeks, he can request a custom coloring page from me of anything he wants. Usually it's the typical dinosaur, robot, ninja turtle, etc. However, yesterday he requested a "Pizza Faced Bully". Unsure of what that was I just went at it and he was mystified at the results.

I just had to report on a terrifying ordeal involving my only child aside from my camera, my iPhone. I was trying to record, via TapeMe App, a very funny giggle from one of my little ones (I'm a nanny) and my phone crashed. While this isn't uncommon, when I rebooted there was a message in the slider saying "Slide for Emergency" in several languages and symbol indicating the phone needed some iTunes juices.
After reading a forum online that scared the bejeezus out of me (saying that I now had an iBrick that was worthless and it had somehow become unlocked and no longer with AT&T) I took a chance and went with the screen's diagnostics by plugging it into my laptop. iTunes opened and charged it, did some Genius Playlist mumbo jumbo and everything's right as rain....hopefully. We shall see. ![]()
Alright, so following in NomadSlim's footsteps and the Bestee Theme, I'm wondering what shirt it was that got everyone hooked on Threadless. I shall begin with the first shirt I purchased (although I had been a member before, I'd never been roused enough to purchase, I guess....now I'm poor because all I do is where these shirts):

So I'm a little confused about the famous face rules here. I remember reading as some point (maybe it was in the Democracy challenge) that likenesses are allowed or something of that nature...HOWEVER. I have seen a few products around the site that have some pretty famous faces (Calling Home and Dark Side of the GardenAmazon Addiction . Also the amazingly wonderful sub Spork long and Prosper ).
How is the level of likeness decided as printable vs legally unprintable? I have several ideas that this would help either cultivate or eliminate. Thanks!
Okay, so I'm totally uneducated on flash and web based anythings. However, I would like to add flash to my subs. Is there a way to do this without purchasing Flash Pro? Or, if I do purchase Adobe Flash Pro CS4 will it still integrate and play well with my Adobe CS3 Creative Suite??
Help!!
Ahhh....so I finally submitted a real design (by my standards, not the first design I submitted to see what the process was like, which consisted of morphing a Photoshop custom shape and calling it my own...sad). Now it begins. Waiting for that email that can make and break a day. The last time I did this I wasn't even convinced it was a good design and I still felt let down for some reason when I got the "Your design was declined because it needs some work" email from the Threadless.
It's the kind of waiting that I hate. The results end up in an email, so that means I'm aimlessly clicking around my computer hoping to here the "ding" alert from mail and find a happy message. And if I'm out the house I'm clinging to my phone and constantly distracted from conversations wondering if that last vibration was it. We shall see, we shall see.... ![]()
So I just uploaded my first design for critique. You can check it out here and let me know what you think. Woohoo!
Alright. So I'm taking a chance and coming out of the design closet and stating that I'm a total non-art loser. I've never taken a drawing class, a design class, zip...I took printmaking in college but that just emphasized how little I knew about drawing. I'm a photographer....click, snap, etc.
However, I LOVE to draw, create, and feel like I've MADE something. I'm also a nanny (for those who don't know me, i.e. most) and my 3 year old asked me to draw him a Ninja Turtle. Ahhh! Terror. So I summon up al the free hand skills within in me and take about 20 minutes to sketch him out and color him. As I'm doing this I'm realizing how much fun I'm having and how much I'm learning just by doing it. After the big reveal Wade squealed with delight and begged me to draw more for him, so I continued with a line of his favorite Sesame Street folks, Arthur, and one pretty dilapidated Lighting McQueen. I'm hoping that by doing this in my spare time I'm actually learning something and helping to ease my mind into the idea of actually putting my own images on paper (that's been my big road block lately). I see these things in my head and I never really can get them right on paper, which is really embarrassing. So maybe this will help me. I'm absolutely smitten with my Big Bird....love 'em... P.S. You wouldn't know I'm a photographer by looking at this photo....blech. ![]() |

I'm a 21 year old art and photo hopeful with no pets =(. I'm also a musician (percussionist, vocalist, and pianist) and just got done performing Carnegie Hall (yay!). Newly relocated to NYC/NJ with my main squeeze (also a drummer) and looking for a path in life!
