Same Game Different Concept. Sorry the printed one is better. I'd rather my scrabble letters be A Mess then say "I love you"

the graphics are similar, however this is a reprint from a while ago and also the message is different, so i wouldn't worry too much. if it helps though, that just sucks :-)

it isn't really the same at all, the graphics are different and the messages are different. the only common theme is a board game and i doubt that inspiration came from your design, more likely it was from a frustrating game of scrabble.

Wow - TOTALLY wasn't aware of the other submission when I did mine. And I did as thorough of a search as the engine would allow. But, aside from the fact that they both deal with the game Scrabble, I don't think there's much similarity - either in execution or message. Sorry if you got that "been there, done that" feeling...

hmmm...I see the point...it's the same subject matter, but the execution is very different, especially since there's no " I love you" spelled out, which I am sorry to say and please don't take it personally, was a pretty horrible idea...either way, I think the scrabble t-shirt is one of the worst, if not the worst, one to be printed by threadless.

worse than kids blowing their brains out, huh? haha . bluesexplosion: I agree with these guys. The only thing your shirt and the printed one have in common is scrabble. The concept and the execution are quite different.

It's not even the same game.

'I love you' has 8 letters on it, and a scrabble rack only has 7, so we can properly assume that the first shirt wasn't even scrabble based.

that really does suck

If two guys like Elisha Gray and Alexander Graham Bell working independently could each invent a rather complex device like the telephone within a few hours of each other, then it’s not a big stretch to see similar designs on tee shirts. Obviously my geeky love for the History Channel is showing. They say there is no such thing as a new idea anymore. I wouldn’t sweat it.

A few years ago I came up with a comic strip that took place in a zoo. A snake named Slider was the star of the strip. It ran in a few local papers until one of them pointed out that there was an Australian strip named “Snake”. I had never seen this strip, but I looked it up and DAMN it was almost the same strip! Our snakes even looked alike, it was very weird. A couple of the dailies were even the same - both our snakes fell in love with a garden hose and both of them asked Santa to give them legs for Christmas! In both of those dailies his copyright showed he did them AFTER I did. I know he didn’t steal from me, but it was still very strange.

Don’t let it get to you.

(BTW I think I like your design more.) :)

But neither You nor Love are words in Italian!

So it doesn't work at all.

Reacting to the comparison with http://www.threadless.com/submission/31535/A_game_to_play ...

The beauty of the winning design is in the theme. The winning design illustrates the damn impossibility of the raw hand in a wonderful way. The losing design speaks a naive message in a not-very-interesting way. While many folks want to talk about love on shirts, I can't remember many who do it well enough to get past an 0-1 vote. This shirt rules because it speaks less obviously to a far more universal theme. I love wearing it.
