I think the key is - it MUST be wallet sized. The square ones are cool, but fall short when it comes to "handy carry size".

Also, i think paper over synthetic materials, so you can write appointment times on it... i guess it depends on the purpose. Ive seen some pretty cool business cards made from plastic too :)
