first off this is an adorable tee and i would totally buy it

but why is it the girl's tees are always more expensive than the guy's? it's not really an issue right now because of the $10 sale but when that's over we all go back to paying $18 a shirt instead of $15

it just doesn't make any sense, especially since girl's shirts have less actual material in them: smaller sleeves, shorter torso, etc. etc. etc.

buying a guy's 3xl for 3 bucks cheaper than a girl's small is just messed up :o

its cause they come from different companies.
guys come from fruit of the loom, and girls come from american apparel

the girls shirts are printed on American Apparel, wich is more expensive(and supposedly better quality) than the Fruit of the Loom shirts they use for the guy tees.

girls tees are $17 regular...and they are $2 more bc they're american apparel whereas the guys' shirts are fruit of the loom

it's all just cotton though

and why don't they get guy's american apparel shirts? or girl's fruit of the loom? this perplexes me

I'd pay the extra $2 for an AA shirt, the quality pwns FotL. Rly.

fat guy shirts are 17$ too. Plus more expensive shipment. So who's the victim now, huh? WHO'S THE VICTIM NOW? etc.

AA is better quality... and has a more tailored fit than the FoL tees. I wish the guys were offered in AA.

womens clothes seem more expensive in general, i think. i hardly buy them. i dont know why men and women seen different tshirts. my chest isnt very small, and i can wear shirts without special "boob room" just fine.

I am happy to pay the extra few bucks for AA. The plain AA shirts alone are about $15 on the website I think, so $17 for a printed, extremely soft and nice fitting tee is a great deal ;o)

AA is much better. I'm glad they don't sell girls FotL if you ask me.

Plus AA are made in a union shop in America as opposed to FotL using little children in 16 different countries around the world.

american apparel's factory actually isn't unionized. sweatshop-free, sure, but not a union shop.

aa is amazing and i gladly pay the 2 extra simply because of lack of sweatshop labor.

Threadless did use AA shirts for guys a while ago, and they said they got so many complaints that they switched back to FotL.

"it's all just cotton though"
not true, fruit of the loom shirts are half polyester, which is nasty. i'd gladly pay more for pure cotton.

There are also different kinds of cotton. The AA cotton is extremely soft, not stiff like a lot of 100% cotton shirts can be, but also not super thin. Plus they generally don't shrink ridiculously.

Oh hell, I was about to buy my first shirts, I didn't know the men's were 50/50. I don't know that I want to order anymore, even at $10/shirt. Girls can wear guys' shirts, but I think I'd look pretty funny in a baby-T. No room for ♀ whining at-all.

By the way, you can buy American with AA—and since American cotton is subsidized by the federal government to below market prices, your tax money puts the screws on those sweatshops and their employees even harder to try to make their dollar/day. Always another way to look at it.

Along with them being different brands, girl tailored shirts usually are more money.

It's kind of like why if you put a runner of carpet up the stairs that costs more than putting the whole carpet down - there is less material, but more work is involved because they have to bind the sides. Girl shirts require more work becuase they aren't just a box - they are tailored special to fit with our delicious curves! Unfortunately, that processes requires about .5 more seconds of work, which causes them to charge two more dollars. Lame. But plausable all the same.

If you submit a gallery picture for each shirt you buy, it pretty much covers the extra cost of the girl shirts. In other words, you're only paying 50 cents more after the $1.50 street points earned.

as Madlune said, it's about quality and fit. the american apparel shirts are a much better fit for women than a hanes or fruit of the loom. the AA shirts are made for women's curves and proportions. the other companies' shirts are cut straight and are just sized smaller. having a tshirt that is cut specifically for a female means we don't look sloppy when wearing them.
