I'm having a horrible time trying to transfer my GIMP - produced design to the threadless template. I've tried shrinking it, then cutting and pasting. I've tried the move tool...nothing works. I can't change the color of the template tshirt, either.

Does anyone have some dumbed-down advice for an absolute beginner?

.jpeg /.gif doesn't work?

Does that mean making the image a .jpeg and the template a .gif?

(If so, how?)

yes. they're only accepting gif, jpg or png files.

i'm sorry but i've never used gimp so i don't know how to save it as a jpeg or so. google?

The instructions just say to "transfer" it to the template and that's what I can't seem to do. Why is the threadless template a .psd file if they aren't accepting those? (I know that seems like a really dumb question, but I'm really new at this...)

Thanks

.psd file is an Adobe Photoshop file. It is a file containing many layers and allows for easy editting in Photoshop.

When you are happy with the image you have created in photoshop, using the template, then you save it as a .jpg or a .gif file.

These are just two types of flat digital image files. A jpeg is usually better for this purpose. The thumbnail you must also submit must be saved as a .gif

I very much appreciate everyone's advice...it's the final transferring of the image to the template that I'm having trouble with. It just won't move! (Even though it's not absolutely necessary to use the template, I want to learn how just to assure myself that I'm not crazy or stupid.) It seems like such a simple thing, but I've tried for literally DAYS to do it.

Thank you everybody, for your help.

nink -you need the correct application (program) to open the template files. You can't use 'Gimp' or MS Paint or any other program to open an Adobe Photoshop file.

Like opifan said, you don't need to use this template. You can create a submission image in any other program, just so long as you get the dimensions correct. Check submission guidlines, but I believe it has to be 640 pixels wide by anything up to 800 pixels high.

and don't get to caught up with the idea of 'transferring' your design. All this means is that when you open the .psd file in photoshop, you place your design in the file, and make it look nice before saving it as a .jpeg or a .gif
