Do you work better up late or up early?
Good evening all...or morning...

In the interest of light discussion (ie, not involving politics, religion or scoring designs on Threadless) I ask you, the people of the Interweb..."When do you produce your best designs"?

You might do you best work after a light lunch and a stroll through a park. Or, maybe the exact opposite, in a dark, dank room late at night with a mouse buried in potato crisp packets and empty Coke™ cans. I believe a few Web Developers nodded just then.

Or perhaps you get up at 5am like Rocky and sit there in a hoody listening to Eye of the Tiger on your Abflex™ as design your heart away. I don't know. This is for you to say.

Anyway, hopefully someone out there will have something to say because this'll be an awefully short blog if it there aren't.

Doing an average of all the results I've recieved...it seems the average time to work is 10:30pm to 2:00pm.

up late, when it's quiet :) Morning is equally suitable, really, it's just that I hate going to bed early.

I don't design but I am a better worker late at night when my house is silent. My parents get up early to enjoy the silence and I stay up late for the same reason. Between midnight and 4 is when I am at my best.

annnnd, also, I am not a designer by any stretch of the imagination, but that's when I write the best and when I end up having the best ideas.

I'm a Cameron; although I'm sure it's intended as a signature.

In terms of t-shirt designs/ illustrations I tend to work best around late morning to early afternoon. But it all depends on whether there's anything destracting me from cracking on.

I have had a couple of 3am miracles with essays though.

I get a lot of my better ideas right before I fall asleep, actually. I also work more efficiently late at night, but I don't know why because I like the daytime way more.

Actually thats very true Cactus; one of the best times for ideas is definitely before falling asleep.

Yeah me too. I'll get a ton of great idea's on any night I have to get up early the day after. Garaunteed. As I fall asleep good idea's will come along and suggest that I in fact should actually be awake. I tell them to bugger off cos I have work in the morning and they wander off to find another designers brain.

That's my take on it anyway.

As for the Cameron thing. I like talking to myself. I don't think thats a problem. Do you?

I stay up way too late. Mostly, that hurts my ability to do good work the next morning.

Midnight to 4 am is ideal for me. Pretty unfortunate, especially when I need to get up for work at 7:00. Just means I take a lot of naps.

Haha. Actually...that was me last night. I want to invent a design studio where people turn up for work at 8:00 0'clock at night and knock off at 4am. It'd have to be next to an allnight deli but.

All about me
