Could someone that is decent in Illustrator whip together a quick tutorial video that shows how to make a gear (think steampunk)?

I've been trying to make one that is symmetrical but it is taking forever. Seems like there is a quicker way. Thanks!

What resolution do you guys work in? What dimensions? What size in mb is your file (avg)? Right now I'm working on an image that is 3600/2600 at 300 dpi and 20 mb.
