Should I go through with this one?

I had an idea today after stalliongsta mentioned some stuff about battlefields and war scenery. Somehow this floated into my head and I got to work tracing a photo of some American soldiers in Vietnam. Some of the values of the colors got brought along with the linework when I separated the elements, but I think it looks neat as it is.

I'm planning on adding splotches of color for each flower and then picking a tee color. Before I move on with it, though, I wanted to get some feedback. I'm not terribly too proud of some parts of the illustration itself. I feel like I butchered the flowers themselves and some segments of each soldier. Do my errors add charm, or are they just ugly?

It's nicely drawn though it reminds me immediately of a sub that's already been printed. They aren't too similar though, this is worth developping

Was it the one with the aging dandelions? I think that may be the one you're thinking of.

yeah that's the one, but like I said before, the two designs aren't alike at all lol atleast not in concept

there's definitely a similar cord between the two
however, i'd say the stages one uses the flower to illustrate growth
and the flowers in this one symbolize war/peace

it looks cool, but are you saying that this is a straight up trace of a photo? I suppose to be more exact, is this a copyrighted photo?

That's another one of my concerns. I did end up changing some of the elements as I traced the soldiers. I do understand the implications of tracing, but I just don't fancy myself as a very skilled artist.

I actually like where this is going Some subtly to the uniforms would be nice.

It has a ton of potential (which wasn't what I was thinking when I first read, "vietnam")

Also, given that it looks like you hand-drew those from the photo (rather than an illustrator-trace) and that you have incorporated that imagery and made it your own rather than just using it, I would say this is an acceptable use of tracing.

just put it on a green tee, don't have that little background. could also work on sand
