During World War II, the death tolls for major countries involved were as follows. I'll list the US first, since I live here.

US = 416, 800
Germany = 5, 533, 000 (military only)
UK = 382, 600
Japan = 2,100,000
Soviet Union = 10,700,000

Keep in mind, these are military deaths only. No atrocity victims or civilians included. And, there were a shitload more countries involved.

So, the question. How much different would the world be today if the media covered WWII the way that current conflicts are covered?

There were approximately 41,793,300 civilian deaths during WWII. This doesn't include the 5,754,400 Jews killed during the holocaust.
