this just happened today....
I'm still muddy from being in the river.....

------

Today I was walking my dogs and there was a duck floating in the river
on one side and flapping one wing-- it was pitiful--

So I called bird rescue, and a women and a women with a big
net came-- but she didnt want to climb down the muddy bank
and walk through
the mud and get the duck... she had her good clothes on
and the tide was coming in and it was getting dark....

so I tried-- I went through knee deep mud to get to the duck-
which was on the bank
but it kept flapping its one wing and going deeper into the water -
I went into the water up to my waist--- but I couldn't reach.

But then a lady named Natasha -- walking her dogs with her husband
offered to help-- she was American-- from San Fransisco -- she had a French
accent--- (She had no problem with jumping into the mud)

So with Natasha helping--
I went back out into the water up to my waist and waved my arms
to scare the duck into the bank and
kept the duck from swimming back into the water--
...While the duck was watching me flail my arms like a crazy person
Natasha snuck in from behind with the net and got the duck...

It was like-- we were duck rescueing professionals!!!

So Yay!!! We saved the duck!!!

The bird rescue lady thinks the duck has a broken wing- and a broken leg.
she wrapped it up in cloth- like a mummy -- with just its head sticking out--
Then she sat the duck in the back seat of her car.
the duck didn't seem to mind-- and seemed quite snug-- sitting in the car--
She said that ducks are very resilliant and the duck would
probably be just fine.

So Yay!!! We saved the duck!!!
